Hi guys

I'm approaching 3rd tri and noticed today that my feet and ankles are swollen. Has any one had this and is it normal? I have no other symptoms, i thought it could just be due to hot weather.

Yeah I've had the same, I think it's the hot weather. I'm 25+4, I never had it with my first baby x

Yep, ankle swelling started for me around 25/26 weeks. I was worried at first, but my midwife assured me it was normal and nothing to worry about as long as the swelling goes down when you put your feet up.

Try to stay hydrated, sit down if you've been standing a long time, get up and walk if you've been sitting a long time.

Thanks for your reply, yes i did notice last night that when i put my feet up it seemed to go away. I have an office job so am sitting all day. I've put my feet on a box to raise them a bit.

swollen feet an hands etc is common in preg but sudden swelling acompanied by other things ie headaches can be serious. this is my third preg an i seem to nvr get tht symptom. But yea hot weather wont help so drink plenty and try not be on feet too long.

I'm desk bound at work as well but make a point of getting up every hour to walk around. Of course that's about the time I need to get more water and take a potty break.

Me too. I've also had to take my wedding ring off as it was feeling very tight. I've read that you need to lie down for an hour a day with your feet above your heart. I've been doing this in the evening and it does help quite a lot. I've also been putting my feet in cold water whenever I can. I think its just bad at the moment because of the heat X

The heat definitely contributes to it. Try to cut down on sodium. And when you can, sit back, relax, and kick up your feet!

What r u ladies wearing on ur feet? My shoes r all too tight now and im looking for something comfy to wear? Not flip flops lol. Crocs maybe? Anything thats comfy??

Mine started about 3 weeks ago after coming back to work after vacation. I'd like to think it's from the heat but I'm on my feet alot during the day. I try to sit down as much as I can, but it's not optimal because I work in sales/collections. I have to be available on the floor to sell our merchandise, so I have to be on my feet. Most of the swelling is in the ankles, and I've noticed in the last week it's on my feet too.

I think the bit of swelling I do get in my hands is from heat though. Most days I have no problem wearing my rings and then a few days I may not be able to wear them.

Back when I was pregnant with DS1, I never had this problem until 3rd tri and I was on my feet all day then too (worked as a waitress). But I also wasn't pregnant in 2nd tri during the summertime.
