As part of the 'Overdue Crew' I just wanted to come on to let you know my baby girl was born on Tuesday 24th April at 3.40 am. We have called her Erin Kate and she is absolutely gorgeous!
Just a quick birth story - when i was 8 days overdue I had a show that morning followed by period pains and a few contractions which didn't amount to anything. The next day I continued with period pains and then around 5 pm that night the contractions started for real. However I still didn't know if I should go up to the hospital. I had been induced with a previous pregnancy and it was nowhere near as painful.
By about 6 pm the contractions were coming between 3 and 5 minutes apart. I rang the labour ward and they said i had to stay at home for a little longer. I took some paracetemol. About an hour later I rang them again and asked if I could come up as contractions were getting closer. When we arrived at the hospital they said I was already 6 cm dilated! I couldn't believe it!
I was taken to a delivery suite and was given gas and air until I was 8 cm. I then felt I needed something else so had diamorphine. Then I decided to have an epidural. Things went smoothly from there and Erin was born at 3.40 am.
Glad to hear that most of the overdue crew have had their babies now. I'm so glad she decided to come naturally and i didn't have to be induced like I was last time. Good luck to everyone in the overdue crew. By the time I got to 40 + 9 i had completely given up hope that she would come naturally and then she surprised me! Hang on in there!
