Just looking for any advice/tips really!

I mean, has anyone ever had a poo leak in the pool? It's my biggest fear! I'm terrified of it happening...
How long do you think she will last in the pool? I'm imagining it will prob be a bit cold for her so we'll probably only be there 10mins max tbh.
Oh, and is it acceptable to breastfeed at like the edge of the pool? I have no idea what poolside etiquette is...

I have no idea how I'm going to shower her afterwards...she's never had a shower before so we'll see how she handles that one :haha:

I'm quite nervous tbh, but excited too! :happydance:

I would be very interested to read anyone's responses to this as I'd love to take LO swimming but am also a little hesitant due to possibility of poo leakage and temperature, or possible baby-hysteria and booby-demandage!

I have yet to take my youngest LO swimming but from previous experience the swimming nappies didn't leak (although all my boys had a 'poo face' so I knew when they were going), depending on what the pool is like though I would personally wait until LO has had 8, 12 and 16 week jags just a precautionary measure.

Can't help on the booby question as never had to feed by the poolside, hopefully someone else can help!! x

I formula feed so can't advice on the feeding but I'd say if your comfortable with it then go for it, could always cover up with a towel if your self concious.
On the nappy front huggies little swimmers are great. If your really worried you can get neoprene swim nappies that go over the top of the huggies, the baby swim school I go to insists on both a huggies and a neoprene nappy just incase. Ours are called happy nappies.

I first took LO when he was 3months, I found a pool that had a warm kids pool and he lasted about 25minutes. If you search on netmums they have baby friendly pool reviews.

I'd recommend taking 2 towels for LO so you can wrap her up and then still have a dry one for getting her dry. I always take a blanket too, my LO has a tendency to have a meltdown when I'm getting us both dry and dressed. I put him in his car seat and wrap him up instead of having to fiddle with socks and extra layers until I get back to the car.

Enjoy your swim xx

We've been swimming with Sophie last week for the first time!
We went to our local Mum&Baby club where they have a special pool for babies. It's nice and warm in the pool area and the water is the perfect area and they use Bromine instead of Chlorine.

Sophie absolutely loved it. We were in for at least half an hour, without any tears and even some smiles!

For leaking nappies, just make sure you get the proper swim nappies and you should be fine! We have the Little Swimmers from Huggies and they worked fine!

As for tips. Sophie HATED getting out with a vengeance because it was freeeeezing cold compared to being in the water. So if possible bring a hot water bottle and wrap your LO's towel around it, so it's nice and warm and they're all cozy the second they come out the water. Also where I went it was possible to change LO near the pool, as it was warmer there compared to the changing area. Maybe find out if this is possible?
As for the breastfeeding, I'm not sure. But surely it should be possible if you bring a muslin or something to cover up with a little bit, if you don't mind it getting wet?

We didn't shower Sophie after, just had her bath at night and washed her hair and she's fine!

Hope you have a wonderful time!

I take my LO for swimming lessons they last for 30mins after which time he is getting a bit tired. If you are going to a regular public pool i suggest you get a wrap for her. I have this one for my LO and it keeps him warm:

Plus they are only £8.99

You can get a 'happy nappy' thats what the swim lady calls them to stop poop leakages, they fit snuggly around the waist and legs:

Good luck its great fun!

We used a little swimmer under a happy nappy and went to a special pool. He loved it and was in for about 30 minutes and was tired after that.

I took LO swimming once he'd had his 8 week jabs, it was great! :)
He wore a disposable swim nappy and a pair of swimming pants with a built in nappy, but he didn't poo anyway. The baby pool is pretty warm and we stayed in for 25 minutes- he'd have gone longer but was due a feed. I wouldn't feed him at the poolside but ten I am quite shy feeding in public. I fed him in the changing cubicle. He didn't have a shower as the shower water is BOILING there, so I took some oilatum cream to put on him and then bathed him at home and his skin was fine :).
Have fun!!

Flynn ADORES swimming, he been three times in the two weeks since his 8week jabs. He wears huggies little swimmers and some little shorts with a rubber lining from boots, ge did a massive poo yesterday in the pool and it didn't leak at all. He usilually stays in about an hour and doesn't want to get out when it's time. We take a spare towel which we put next to the pool to wrap him straight in, we do shower him, he loves it! But the showers at the pool we go to have adjustable temperatures so I can make it right for him, they also have unisex family cubicles which are huge and have a change table in them. I formula feed so just take a warm bottle for after but I feed him before we set off and he's usually starving after so we wash him and put a dry nappy on and wrap him up in a blanket to feed him before we get him dressed, hes usually sparko straight after so then we get dried and dressed and take him home. He always sleeps really well after too!

I'd recommend a wetsuit if its a normal leisure centre pool, or a pool less than about 22 degrees. You can get wrap around velcro ones that are super easy to get on and off, much better than the ones you have to pull on over the heads/round their legs.

See how you get on but yeah, prob 10 mins will be enough to start off with x

My local pool asked a woman to stop breastfeeding by the side of the pool as there was no eating allowed :dohh:. There was a huge backlash from it and now the local council is very pro breastfeeding!

As for the shower, I would just give her a quick rinse down, then have a bath at home afterwards.

I have taken my daughter 3times swimming and she hasn't had any jabs yet! She did do a poo and it stayed put! She loved it ... I did take 4 towels though!x x x oh and at my local pool you have to feed in the changing rooms just because these rules state full swimware must be worn.. But they were happy for me to feed in the changing rooms or cafe!x
