Taking 4 month old to restaurant?

LoveCakes I don't think dogs are much of an issue as most people are good about keeping them on a leash on the streets and will stear clear of any baby carriages as they'll just assume there's a sleeping baby in it to be on the safe side. My son actually sleeps best outside in his carriage (most of the time) and my health care provider actually recommended that he naps at least 2 x a day outside in his carriage. I do have a baby alarm so always have it in use when he's outside so I can always hear if there's an issue if need be. I'm sure DH's grandmother will want to hold him as she doesn't see him very much unfortunately, been tellng DH we should visit her every 2-3 months so she has ample opportunity to see her Great Grandson before she passes. Otherwise there's also DH's parents and DH's little brother's girlfriend of 5 years who can hold him as well. Don't think anyone else will have a huge interest in holding him:shrug:

Katz hi! haha that tax is nuts! I know someone who used to live in Sweden and I couldn't beleive it when she said you could leave babies outside to nap while in the store we could never safely do that in the u.s someone would report us or take our baby! it's nice it's safe enough to do that there. even when dropping off older siblings the school law is we can't leave our other kids unattended in a car we can't even leave our cars running!

Yeah taxes here are crazy, even after living here for over 20 years I still haven't gotten entirely used to it:wacko: I think it's because there are also less kidnappings in the Scandinavian countries so people feel at ease doing it. It's crazy that the laws in the US are so strict, it's a bordering on the ridiculous if you ask me:dohh: As for being reported I think a Danish couple did get into trouble for leaving their baby in the baby carriage outside a store or something, silly them though for not knowing you can't do that in countries outside of Scandinavia:dohh:

I have taken my kids out from 2 weeks. I babywear and the adults usually pass the baby around so everyone gets to eat.

These are the golden months for you to go out, eat out, travel etc..as babies will eventually feed & sleep off in the basket / car seat.. Try doing that with a toddler :|

I always take my babies out to restaurants. They always sleep at restaurants, even if they've just slept. I think all the noise tires them out. My OH and I take turns holding our babies while we eat or put them in a high chair if they're awake, but I don't think any of my kids have stayed awake through a whole dinner until 7 months old. Even if I breastfed baby to sleep under a cover.

My advice would be to stop worrying and start planning what to wear, with that amount of people there will be plenty on hand to help you out and hive him a cuddle it will be fine :flower:

Good advice :) actually the best yet :)

Yes, of course. We always just wore her in a wrap while we ate (often she slept) or we took turns holding her while the other one ate. You'll also very likely have a few willing sets of hands who would take her for a few minutes while you ate and to keep her happy. Personally, I don't think we ever took a push chair into a restaurant as it takes up too much space, but we would take her in in her car seat and sit her next to use on a bench or chair or on the floor in a tucked away spot, or just carry her and bring a wrap if I expected she would want to sleep. We very intentionally rarely did naps at home because I wanted her to sleep easily when we were out and about so we didn't just get stuck at home all the time. If she gets fussy or overtired, one of you can always walk outside with her to calm her down while the other stays at the table, and then you can switch off. I would try not to overthink it. Meals out at this age are actually way easier than they'll be soon when she's mobile or eating solids! So I'd make the most of it now.

Only problem is my son hates the car seat, he cries every single time he's put in it so don't know if we can keep him in it when he wakes up and I doubt we can get him back in it if e.g. I take him out for a feed and want to put him back in it :nope: Unfortunately don't have a stroller yet as we opted to buy a baby carriage and wait with the stroller until a bit later (couldn't afford both options from the get go). Which in our case was good because during the day he'll only sleep in his baby carriage outside (traditional here in Denmark).

As for nursing I suppose I could wear a large scarf (have tons of scarfs:haha:) and use that to cover up a bit if need be. I have a couple of nursing tops so guess I'll wear one of them. I just worry I guess that the staff or another guest will take offence anyway and want me to nurse somewhere else e.g. ask me to use the restroom:wacko:

This is a little late... but I do not recommend using a car seat to allow your child to sleep. They can die from positional asphyxia. See video.
