Hi

The docotor has prescribed me iron tablets for my low iron levels, I took the first ones yesterday and had no problems, however this morning took my first one and was sikc as a dog  it was horrid to say the least. Just wondered of anyone had any tips on how to take to avoid this again! Black sick is far from plesant!

I fully empathise. I'm on Iron tablets too until bubs makes an appearance and I'm sick everyday. Iron sickness is certainly erm..something else!

I take my tablets before bed, but I must admit as I don't sleep well it doesn't tend to help. If you're having no trouble sleeping you could try it like that. Other than that.. Probiotic drinks and iced lollies sometimes keep the Iron Dragon away! x

I was exactly the same, sick as a dog when taking iron tablets. I tried everything, taking with food, without food, in the morning etc etc and was always sick whatever I did.

After some research i found this was quite common in some women. I looked into other ways to raise my iron levels and found out about spatone sachets. These are a natural liquid form of iron which when mixed with Oj are very effective. I checked with my midwife if these were ok to use and she said they were fine but I couldnt get them on prescription. They are £8 for a box of 24 which is a small price to pay for the sickness stopping (I still feel nauseus at times but not being sick). Pregnant women take 2 sachets a day, I take mine morning and evening.

It may be worth looking into if the sickness is too much for you to cope with.

I'm taking mine 3 times a day but I only got them last week and I was really I'll when I first took them I found having a biscuit after taking really helped me xx

My midwife told me to go back if the tablets made me sick as there are so many different ones to try they would be sure to find one that suited me (thankfully I have been OK on mine).

I was just informed yesterday that I am Anemic too! I started my pill yesterday. No sickness, yet, but I heard they can make us very constipated too!! Yikes! What we go through to keep our LO healthy! Lol :hugs:

Thanks ladies might have a go at the ice lollies, any excuse! If not I will ask my midwife next week about spatone, must be something we can do this is horrid. Mind anyhting to help baby! x
