I am sick and tired of being "nothing".

I want to do the best for my baby.

I am broke, and have found a way to take my health care aide via distance delivery for a price I can afford. This way I can take the courses while at home on maternity leave.

I am already doing the work of a health care aide but without the pay since I don't have that stupid certificate!

Do you think this is a bad idea?

has anyone here done it?

I am thinking of doing some sort of course but starting now as i am so bored already x

wondering were you found the course cuz im in the same position..id like to take it too at a decent cost.

I did this when I was pregnant with my first. I was happy plodding along at work until I got pregnant and then I wanted more to be able to provide more for my baby so I did my mangement accountancy exams. People always asked how I coped studying with a tiny baby but it was easy tbh as he was such a good baby and I studied when he slept. The only downside is that it worked too well lol. I ended up as Finance Director working 40 miles away from home and hardly seeing him. With this baby I'm going to do the opposite and take it easy!

Good luck with your studies.

I think it should be ok to do a course whilst on mat leave. Your not making any money from it.

While on EI you can take the courses... if you can wait until after EI and you "don't" have a job to go back to that you can maintain childcare ect. financially the government can help you go back to school... They will pay a portion of the tuition based on your income and you can get a living allowance based on your needs so that you can complete courses that will put you in a better financial position to take care of LO..

I havent done it but im planning to. Ive just applied for a years college course as Im thinking of a total career change, so up to now, Im going to college part time 3 months after I start Mat leave. Its fine since you arent making money from it.

I am currently doing a degree through the open university in the UK. It's sort of modular, each module gives you 30 points and lasts about 9 months. You need 360 points for the degree.

I'm doing 3 modules at once at the mo but should finish 2 of them before bean is born in July. Then will start another 2 in October while I'm still on mat leave. I don't think it will be a problem - it's only 2 - 4 hours a day which you can fit in whenever you get a minute. If you can manage to fit it in around work / pregnancy tiredness then it shouldn't be much harder when there's a little bubs around right?? And it will be so worth it when I can get a good job and buy all the nice things for my family that I would like to buy now :-)
