Tax credits, Child Benefit & Surestart Grant??

Right ladies!

Could I please ask...

How long did it take to go through after sending off forms for -

Child/working tax credit
Child Benefit
Surestart Grant

Ive sent off tax credits and child benefit forms but I cant send off for surestart grant until I'm recieveing tax credits
(i couldnt send off for it while pregnant cause I wasn't on income support and we're both under 25 so couldn't get tax credits til baby was born)

Will they come through in time cause I know you only get so long to send off for the surestart grant after babys here.. :\

When did you send off your CB and CTC forms? Mine took about 10 weeks. You have to get the Surestart forms in by the time they're 12 weeks old, so we literally had to fill the form in ready and as soon as the CTC letter was on the doormat we posted the surestart form.

My child benefit took one week to go into my bank account from the date I posted it. Same with my child tax credits

My CB and CTC were within 2 weeks. But my surestart grant took 7 weeks

Thanks girlies! Bloody hell I hope this hurrys up! How long did it take to send back the birth certificate? and do you need anyone like midwife to sign surestart papers like you did with HIP grant? x

I got the birth certificate back within 3 or 4 days, and yeah the midwife has to sign the surestart form x

ive been wondering this myself about the surestart grant so glad u did this post! but my child benifit i posted on thursday morning and i got the birth certificate back today, so im hoping it doesnt take too long to come through so i can send off for the sure start, where do u get the form from for the sure start? can u get them from the health visitor? xxx

i looked on the direct gov website and there is a PDF you can download & print off to fill in i guess i'll just do that!! xxx

CB took around 3 weeks and CTC took around 7 weeks

hey i didn't wait to get letter from ctc before i sent sure start form, as it is all on the same system, so if they have recieved your ctc forms you will be on their system, iykwim. id just leave it a couple of weeks to make sure that you are on system and then send it. your health visitor can sign it

Yeah I think your HV needs to sign it, ours did when we applied for it with our first.

We had our first at the end of Aug (05) and everything had been sorted by early November (05). There was a delay on our tax credits though because they had to check something so that held it up.
