Sorry if this has probably been asked a million times before, but i've been reading all the government websites and i'm still none the wiser!
Working Tax Credit / Child Tax Credit - is this assessed on my full time salary, even when i'm on maternity leave? Obviously i'll be claiming SMP for the first 9 months, can i therefore get higher tax credits whilst i am only getting this teeny tiny small amount? Or is it all calculated on my usual salary and thus means i'll probably get nothing as i dare say they will tell me i am "earning too much". Pah!
Starting to get a bit scared now about the sudden reduction in income!

it is assesed on the last tax yr april 2008/2009 but if u take a big drop they take into account ...for example my hubby was working 40 hrs as just gone sick so i am working 20s and our tax credits have gone up

It is assessed on your previous tax year earnings but when they send you through the reward notice you call them and give them a estimation of this years earning. Mine went from £21pw to £43pw when I gave them my estimate for this tax year. Ring them up and go through it with them. They are crazy busy so best to wait till next week once the reneal deadline is up!!
