Im sick, my throat hurts so bad and I need tea! But I can't figure out what tea is okay to drink.
Here are the teas I have at home..

Sweet dreams herbal tea (chamomile, hibiscus, peppermint leaves, rose blossoms, spearmint leaves, orange blossoms)

Tazo passion tea
(hibiscus flowers, natural tropical flavor, citric acid, licorice root , orange peel, cinnamon, rose hips, lemongrass)

Green tea with pomegranate
(green tea, apple, natural pomegranate flavors, soy lecithin, hibiscus, rose hips, licorice root)

Wild raspberry hibiscus
(hibiscus flowers, orange peel, lemongrass, rosehips, raspberry flavor, licorice powder, citric acid)

Orange spice black tea
(rose hips, hibiscus, orange peel , roasted chicory, natural orange flavors)

Ginger peach green tea with matcha
(green tea, ginger root, peach flavor, Japanese matcha

Lipton regular tea
(orange pekoe, poekoe cut black tea)

Any tea experts out there? I am worried to drink any of it as there is a lot of scary non specific info on google

Yikes! you have a big tea variety!! The sweet dreams one sounds ok to me.. but if you're worried id personally stick to plain black tea, you could sweeten it with some honey and lemon to help your throat. I know a lot of people try avoid caffeine but you could just make it weak. I drink coffee all the time lol.. they say some caffeine is fine.

And as well as soothing your throat it will taste nice :) (I'm not a big fan of herbal teas)

sorry, not much help but hope you feel better soon!

Thank you.. I was just thinking about drinking the lipton black tea as it seems the safest (it doesn't have a bunch of weird ingredients). I would LOVE to have some sweet dreams but I have heard some vague things about chamomile, peppermint and spearmint. One website will say don't ingest these things in pregnancy and the next website will say it's okay. I'm lost :(

I think any of it is fine as long as you keep your caffeine intake in check. None of these ingredients are at a high enough concentration to do anything. Any time i've read warnings about herbs or whatever it's in large doses. i just had a regular green tea and for some reason it's making me tired! my throat hurts, too, and it made me feel better.

I just asked my doctor this last friday and she said chammomile is fine. I also read contradicting things on the internet, so I made sure to get the OK by the doc.

Honestly i haven't even thought about not drinking any of these. I drink quite a few different herbal tea's. I'm sure it'll be fine especially if its only once in a while your having it.

The only tea I avoid is my RRLT. I'll start that up again after week 35/36 though.

When I was sick, I took cough drops, Tylenol (I had a fever) and used a humidifier. I was too scared to venture into class c drugs (Robitussin, musinex, etc.). They say they're safe, but they're less safe than Tylenol which is a class b drug. Just be careful, and call the doctor and/or pharmacist to see what is truly safe. :hugs: Hope you feel better.

I have a cold now and my throat feels like i tried swallowing razors amd broken glass. Ive been drinking peppermint and ginger tea. It definitely helps sooth it. I agree the concentrations in teas isnt enough to cause harm to LO. if youre still uncomfortable though I'd shoot for the black tea and add some things yourself to make your throat hurt less. (Honey.. etc.) Feel better!

Thank you that's what my throat feels like too! :( icky. Peppermint tea sounds soo good. I am going to call my OB nurse and see if that sweet dreams tea is ok

I called the ob nurse and she said all of the ingredients are fine :) yay

Yey... Hope it helps... Hope you get some rest and get better soon.

I'd say all of the above! Even caffeinated ones would be fine. It's true that some herbs and spices are contraindicated during pregnancy but only if taken in really high doses, like in supplements. The amount they use to flavour tea/infusions won't have any ill effects.

Enjoy your infusion and feel better :flow:
