Hi,

I've been useing the Dr Browns for ages and Jac seems a lot better with his wind so i thought id try going back to 'normal' bottles. I tried my avent last week and jac took so much wind and struggled to get a rhythm i dont think i'll use these with him again.
So this week i thought id try Tomee Tippee as a lot of people favour these. I tried a bottle and he seemed to be a lot better with these than the avent. But it seems that the teat is collapsing ( i learnt this last week )....i think it's because the teat is so big and soft compared to ther teats and he might just be getting used to them.
The teats are currently the slow flow......should i try the medium flow one? He's already slightly messy with the slow ones and i'm thinking the medium flow might be too much for him....the avent medium flow definitely was.

Any advice greatly appreciated

I didnt really take much notice of the the vent in the teat....i might have had that at the bottom with the liquid first time...doh. Will see how it goes at this afternoons feed. Any input still appreciated.

xx

I would try him with the medium flow. Josh has had the medium flow ones since 10 days old cos he was taking in too much wind on the slow flow

We had the same problem with TT, they were a PITA at the start until we realised that she needed medium flow teats. This was when she was VERY young, about 2 weeks

I have used the vari flow teat since birth, as I was BF and FF. I've totally swapped to FF and I tried the medium teat but she didn't like it so gone back to the vari flow. Sometimes the teat collapses on Isobel as well

ive noticed this to. Do you mean like the kinda invert themselves? Emma kinda squishes them like a boob nipple and plays with them, but has jsut started making a clicking sound - does that mean she can go up a size then?

I am wary of this as she is eating a lot each feed - she wont settle after we give her what the packet says she should have - and so I dont want her to have too much too fast.

I know what you mean...thats a worry for me too as were already on 7oz bottles.
I tried the medium flow and the 1st bottle the teat collapsed again...but he took the bottle quite well. So i tried again bedtime feed and the teat didnt collapse this time but we had a bit more mess and splutering. I think he might be getting used to them so im hoping he wont guzzle as much once he does. What im trying to do is to give him a breather every now and again so as not to take the bottle too fast...cos i now he'll take the whole lot even though he doesnt need it.
Ill let you know how i get on.

Thanks for all your replies.

dont live too much by what the packet states....thats an average amount of ounces....and most dont take the average, some more some less.

my little is still on using number 1 teats and seem quit happy with these so i haven't changed to number 2 yet but i have experienced the teat collapsing alot but i thought this was just because the teat is so soft and flexible!! also it doesn't matter where you have the vent as it still works even when covered with the milk as it produces air bubbles
