Jess was born 4 weeks early, in hospital she was on the prem teats and bottles when we came home we tried to put her on the tommee tippee ctn bottles, she wouldn't have any of it so we had to use the hospital stuff for about a week then she took to the tt stuff but straight on size 2 teat as she was sucking so hard on the no 1 but nothing seemed to be coming out.

No 2 has been ok, when she takes formula it does take about 45mins to an hour, when she has ebm it's more like half an hour....

Until sat. I have been trying to get her on the breast all this time and took peoples advice just to nurse as mun as they wanted so sat I got out the nipple shields and sat on the sofa for the day. Jess would suck but come off alot and cry, in the end I gave up as I didn't think she had taken anything gave her formula which she had nicely, the next ff she wouldn't take it and cried hysterically for 2 hours, seemed ok for a few feeds after then she has started crying as she is drinking (which is taking ages and not much
coming out) so I switched to no 3 teat which seems to be better in the sense she isn't crying as much but the flow is too fast and she was sick

has anyone got any advice for me as i'm going out of my mind thro lack of sleep )as feeds taking so long) and frustration

Thanks xx

It's not wind is it?

I find that our lo can get really angry when feeding if he has wind.. this usually happens when i take the bottle away to wind him. He is usually mouthing away like he is starving but when he gets that burp up the crying stops and he is able to continue feeding.

Also, we have changed from tt to avent bottles just the other day to see if would help with his feeding as he takes ages to ff on the size 2 teats and also spits lots of it out so it's a messy affair. The avent bottles (size 2 teats) (are on offer in boots at the mo) are much cleaner for him although the jusry is still out as to how long it will take him to take his bottle.

I have found formula feeding a bit of a mine field though, so many options... is it the milk thats the problem or the teat size or the bottle make arrrghhhh... drive you nuts.

good luck x

Thanks c - we do seem to have the same problems don't we !
