how do you know what teat size to use??? until a week or so ago i was using sma gold with a no1 size avent teat, because of constipation we moved over to cow and gate comfort, this is thicker and im not sue what teat to use, i stayed on no1 to start with but LO seems to get very tired and doesnt always finish his bottles, as he falls asleep although he is still hungry, so wakes up a short time after feeding for more, i saw on a baby website the other day that the teat should allow a certain number of drops out per second when turned upside down (cant remember how many it said now) so i turned the bottle upside down and it only let one drip out without squeezing.... so i moved up to a no2 teat.. thing is this doesnt let drops out either without being squeezed... so now im confused! do i need to go up again? he doesnt seem to get distressed or worked up due to not getting enough milk, he will just go to sleep fed or not! which obviously makes it hard to tell if he's getting enough.

do your bottle allow drips out when turned upside down? is this the way people check the correct size?

any advice would be appreciated :flower:

You could try the size 2 fast flow teat.

The behaviour you saw with the level 1 teat is what happens when it's too slow. If you're getting any of that behaviour now with the 2, it could be worth trying a 3.

Not finishing the bottle doesn't necessarily mean that the teat is too slow -you should expect a drop in intake when you switch to a thicker formula - my LO dropped a bottle entirely. Don't worry about it letting drips out either - mine don't either and I use level 3 teats! As long as he's having enough to keep him satisfied it's fine.

LO seems happier on the bigger teat (no2) now, although he keeps getting hiccups now! lol im glad its not the drip thing you have to go by otherwise id have to buy more teats just to find the right one!

although now i have to go out and buy more no2's, it feels like such a waste of the 6 no1's i have already that have barely been used lol ahh well! the joys of babies huh!

sjr.. do avent do a fast flow no2? i didnt see any on their site...

thanks for the info!
