My 9 month old daughter still has no teeth. I'm clearly a bad judge of teething because I've bet OH twice that she will have teeth within a week and she hasn't. Everyone we meet says she's teething because she chews on everything but she has been like that since being able to get things to her mouth and went through a thumb sucking phase so I cant use that as an indicator of teething.

Anyway over the last 2 days she's started getting a temperature, Tuesday it was 38.5, yesterday was her first day at nursery and they called to say it was 38.4 and then she woke up around midnight and it was 38.7 each time it takes calpol/Nurofen at least an hour to start bringing it down.
She never gets a temperature, even as a newborn with a serious infection that they thought was sepsis she didn't get a temperature so this is all new for me.

I read so much conflicting stuff, many mums say their babies got a temp when teething but a lot of stuff says teething never causes a temp and it will be something else.
The thing is I dont like to be dramatic and rush her to hospital or the Drs with everything but when she was taken into hospital it could have ended very differently because I was going to wait the weekend to see how she was on Monday it just so happened that the midwife called so I mentioned it and she came round and told me to take her straight to the hospital where she had a whole host of tests and a feeding tube. So while I dont like to rush her places, the 'what ifs' of that always sticks in my mind.

Did ur child get a temp when teething and at what temp should I get concerned enough to take her somewhere?

I don't think my daughter got a fever with teething, or at least not noticeably enough that I felt like I needed to do something. She has had a very obvious high fever with infections when it was clear I needed to do something, so I might just not have noticed if it was only slightly raised. With teething for us, the obvious signs were always regular night waking (like hourly) and crying in pain at every waking, and then very loose acidic stools that caused terrible nappy rash (only times she ever had nappy rash), so it was unusual enough that I knew it was coming. My daughter never chewed on things or seemed at all bothered by anything in her mouth. For us, teething was much more a digestive issue.

For a fever of any sort, what I always do is give paracetamol regularly and wait to see what it does. If it brings the fever down, great, keep it up according to instructions until the fever breaks. If after regular paracetamol, the fever continues to just go up, she's having trouble breathing (usually it's a chest infection when this happens), or she seems listless or overly tired (like napping 3 hours straight), then for me it warrants a trip to the doctor as it's usually an infection that needs to be treated. If I can control the fever at home myself though, I don't bother taking her to be seen. Most things are viral anyway and there's nothing a doctor can do to treat it, but an uncontrollable fever is something to be concerned about. If she otherwise seems fine and the fever is coming down if you give her something, I'd probably try that and see what happens.

Her temp was up again and nursery called to ask if they could give her Calpol, obviously I said yes but 2 hours later they called and it still hadn't come down so luckily I was off work so went to get her. By the time I got her home it was starting to come down slowly but took 4 hours to bring it right down. Managed to get her into the Drs to make sure it wasn't a chest or ear infection from being ill and thankfully that was ok. By the time we were leaving the Drs and back home it was creeping up again so gave her some Nurofen to try and stop it going so high this time. They think she probably just has a tummy bug as her stools and gone very watery now. I just wanted some opinions on teething and temps, I personally dont think teething should cause temps but as she's my first I don't have any experience of it so always good to hear other parents experiences
