Do you think its OK to say something like "wow, you've lost a lot of weight!" followed by "you look great!" or similar? Or would you feel offended, like the person was saying you used to be really fat?
I nearly said this to a friend I haven't seen in a while today and then stopped myself in case I offended her :dohh:

I wish someone would say it to me :haha:

I actually said it to a friend this morning, she only had a baby 3 weeks ago and is looking fab, i told her she was looking a skinny minx, she said thank you! 5 mins later another friend came along and said she'd lost weight and was looking great. She seemed chuffed we had said it

I tell people. I think some people like that. It's a confidence boost :)
xoxox

I used to take everything the wrong way, so when people said I'd lost weight I'd think 'oh so I used to be fat?!' :haha:
Now though, I love hearing it.. Finally shifting this baby belly! And even before when I used to think silly then it was still a confidence boost!

I always tell people. I know what a great feeling it is when people say you've lost weight and look great and I wouldn't mind if they thought I used to be fat because I wouldn't be after the weight loss :haha:

i think its great to hear ive had 2 people say ive lost weight in my face thsi past few weeks then i did think..did i used to have a fat face

Usually people who lost weight worked hard to get that way...so people love hearing their hard work paid off! I wish someone would tell me I lost weight and look great lol.

Thanks for the input ladies, I'm going to text and tell her :). I know in the past when I've lost weight and people have told me its felt great but I was just worried it'd seem like a veiled insult to other people. She has lost loads of weight, she got diagnosed as diabetic a few months ago and totally overhauled her diet and started swimming, she looks gorgeous!

Yeah I wish people would mention it to me

Ive lost over 4 stones & literally worked my arse off to do so but nobody congratulates me & it hurts my feelings a bit tbh xx

Woah, 4 stone, that's amazing!! Well done, they're probably just jealous!

i saw an old friend once and didnt say anything because i was thinking the same as you. then a while back i saw another friend who had lost ALOT of weight and i jusat burst one with OMG!!! YOU LOOK AMAZING!!!!! luckily she took it as a compliment

If someone has made the effort to lose weight, in my opinion there is nothing more rewarding than someone noticing and giving a compliment :D

Congrats
I always mention it and tell people there looking great if I notice as noticeable weightloss is usually the product of a lot of hard work and effort.

I tell people, and people tell me. When I'm told it, I often feel stoked, but then do wonder if they thought I was a big fat cow the last time I saw them  But overall I like it more than not.

In saying that, one of my good friends is working shift work nowadays so I don't see him that often anymore and a couple times I'd seen him he told me I'd lost weight and looked great, then the next time he didn't say anything and I thought "Oh no, have I gained it back again?"

I'd probably just say, wow you look fantastic, and they'll probably reply with acknowledging a weight loss to which you can congratulate them i guess. x

I would say it, yes. When I lost some weight my MIL noticed and said I looked great. It was nice :)

I do because one huge reason people lose weight is for more confidence, and it motivates them. If I knew they were unhappy previously then I'd have no problem with pointing it out. If it was someone who I didn't know was dieting I wouldn't say anything though as it could be due to something out of their control (an illness perhaps). Would probably say 'you look great!' instead.

I think it's the way you word it that can cause offence. After I had my daughter and I had about 15 pounds to lose. I went to weight watchers and when I had lost about 10 pounds it was lovely when people would see me and say 'you look great' or 'wow I can't believe you have just had a baby you look so slim' but one person looked me up and down and said 'have you lost tons and tons of weight?' and I was like what do they mean? I didn't have 'tons' to lose, how fat did they think I was before lol! X

Just be aware of how you say it. Some people say it with mouth wide open, eyes triple the size and just freeze whilst saying it. Not nice.
