OH MY GOODNESS...

I think the powers-that-be enjoy making my head spin!

Me and DH have been really struggling financially, his last paycheck, the one that was supposed to cover our 695$/month rent, was only 300$, 100$ of which we needed to spend on groceries cause we had none, and we were still about 500$ short for rent. His work is under-going renovations, so he's at best picking up 10 hours a week.

We couldn't borrow any money from my dad cause he had 1100$ in bills plus vet bills for his + my sister's dogs cause they all got fleas and one of them got really sick and needed to be on a special diet food which costs 80$ per bag.

We tried to apply for Income Assistance (IA) and it wasn't looking up, they were saying they could help us this month and maybe next month, but apparently once the renovations were finished, they couldn't help us because he should maybe then be able to get a decent number of hours - despite the fact that before the renovations, he still wasn't making even enough to cover rent, let alone food.

So we have every piece of documentation we need for applying for IA except my last 3 bank statements, which are being mailed to me and should arrive on monday or tuesday. But we more-than-likely will no longer be applicable for IA because on the EXACT SAME DAY that my bank statements arrive in the mail, so will a cheque for DH.

Out of the blue, today, about an hour ago, DH got a facebook message from his mom saying that his late grandmother's house had been sold, and DH shall be receiving an inheritance cheque from it. So we're going from a state of "day-to-day food, rent and survival struggle" with a whole 12 cents between us... to a complete 360 degrees of having several thousand dollars at our disposal o_O;;

On top of that, I had been stressing that I had no clothes to pack in my hospital bag for myself (I have basically no clothing of my own - long story) and, when I called to tell my Dad about the whole inheritance thing, he mentioned that he was going to be coming down to visit, probably tomorrow, because my Gram had bought me a bunch of clothes to take with me when I went into the hospital to have the baby.

So it's like... STRESS STRESS STRESS PANIC STRESS... POOF! All gone. Everything taken care of by the powers-that-be, all the stresses resolved and gone, in less than an hour.

After spending the last 2 or 3 weeks worrying about it.

My head is still spinning. I'm actually getting a headache from it o_o;;

Aww :hugs:

It's great to hear you've been looked after!!! :happydance:

Oh wow! That must be such a relief, and weight off your shoulders! Where does your husband work?:hug:

Funny how the universe works, eh?
Really glad the stress is off you now. Just focus on having a baby and don't worry about a thing! :)

I'm so glad things took a turn for the good for you guys!!

Glad to hear that things are looking up. Hope your OH can get more hours at work soon too, so that you aren't quite as strapped financially. Things always seem to have a way of working themselves out though, eh?

Oh wow! That must be such a relief, and weight off your shoulders! Where does your husband work?:hug:

He works at the Mcdonalds by the bridge terminal :dohh: They're doing renovations and they ripped all in the insides out except the kitchen, so they just have the drive-thru open. They keep sending him to different Mcdonalds' just so he can pickup hours - he was at the Burnside one for the past 3 days, and tonight he did a late shift at the one on Portland. Doing my head in! They stuck him on a 11am-3pm shift at the bridge terminal one, then put him the SAME DAY at the Portland st one for 5pm-11:30pm, and he ended up walking all the way home after shift (hormones had me literally in tears cause he didnt get home til 1am and I was worried something teribly awful had happened)

Ooh! I didn't realize they were doing renovations at that mcd's! Possibly time for a new job? Or is he trying to look for a new one? I know it's so tough looking for work these days, but maybe keep a lookout for one-does he specialize in anything that maybe would turn an employers eye?

:hug: Either way, I suppose you two are well off for at least a few months now, depending on how much money he inherited-how long will it take to get that money in your hands? :hug:

Must be a huge relief for u, wish something like that would happen to me!

It's nice to read that things actually worked out for someone for a change. Good to hear! :happydance:
