Well for the last week or so Brenn has been fighting taking an afternoon nap. I often take him out in the car, and drive him to sleep. Well today I have had it, and we are going to see about skipping it all together. He is being whiny, but it is now too late to let him have a nap. I hope I can keep him up and together till his bedtime at 7:30. :dohh:

So what are the other 10 month olds doing as far as napping is concerned. He takes an awesome morning nap, nurses to sleep no problem and usually sleeps 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

Hannah usually manages one 30-45 minute nap in the afternoon. She's a nightmare to get to sleep during the day :dohh:

Valerie will have a great morning nap (2 hours) and then will usually skip the afternoon nap all together. Especially since it's getting nice outside, we go to the park in the afternoon and she forgets about being tired all together. Sometimes though, she will nap for a quick 45 minutes or so. It just really depends on where we are and what we have planned for the day.

Most around a year that I know sleep 1-2 hours after lunch. Driving him to sleep is not a good habit... he needs a routine of being put in for a nap... but I dont if you co-sleep then that may be hard. Most I know can be put down awake in their cib and will just go to sleep.

Jack usually has a short nap maybe 45 mins around 11ish, then a longer nap of 1 1/2hrs, occasionally longer, around 3ish. Depending on how he feels he will swap them around, having the longer nap in the morning then a shorter one in afternoon. It all depends on what time he gets up really. :)

Alexa's afternoon nap is quite short now-20 minutes, so I am thinking it will soon be phased out.

Josh doesn't nap in the morning because he always sleeps in now. His new schedule for about 2 weeks now is :

Bedtime -> 9:30-10:00pm
1st feed -> 7:30-8:00am
(falls back to sleep almost instantly)
Wakes up -> 10:30-11:00am
Afternoon nap -> 1:15pm until 4:00pm

Wow! he naps some long!!! The longest Alexa naps is 2 hours, and that's rare!

Sorry about the thread hijack Samantha :blush:

I know he sleeps a lot, I'm a bit worried sometimes he'll nap for 4.5 hours straight! On top of his 10-12 hours night of sleep!! He's kinda always been a sleepy baby. He gets that from me, I LOOOOVE sleeping, I just can't get enough! lol

Really I don't need to be made to feel guilty about how I get my son to sleep or judge for it being a bad habit. Nor made to feel bad because he doesn't just go to sleep when laid in a crib. We did have a routine going and now it has gone to pot, and I don't know why, hence the reason I was asking other mother with babies this age.

I blame my husband, he was a horrible sleeper as a baby. I could sleep for England, as the saying goes. :sleep:

It wasnt meant to make you feel guilty, maybe you souldn't take everything so personally? Or maybe you should just ignor my posts instead of getting into a big bitch about it?

It is a valid reason for the issue though. Jasmine wont sleep alone in the day either because we've always napped together. But she goes down fine at night... And 9 months is one of the more clingy times for a baby because they are starting to really feel more complex emotions and stuff.

I may not have a baby that age, but I have worked in a foster home with probably more babies then annyone has/will have on here. And im simply commenting on what the majority of them have done.

Babies do well with routines, and stick to what we teach them.

Chloe sometimes misses her afternoon nap- she can be a real bugger sometimes. She is also a baby that wont go to sleep if you put her in her cot. I do what works for us and there's nothing wrong with that. I dont see anything wrong with taking him out if it helps, if it works hun dont worry. I find trying to make Chloe nap makes her more grizzly. If she wont I have to keep her entertained and she's ok- it is a pain though!

If she doesnt have her pm nap she will often fall asleep earlier at bedtime but it doesnt usually affect when she wakes in the morning.

i no maddi's younger but she often skips her morning nap and has a longer afternoon one instead. i have found it better her having an afternoon one other wise she's cranky before bed. though i no maddi is quite a sleepy baby, might be worth getting brenn to try a later nap honey, good luck :hugs:

If it helps, Renah doesn't sleep. She wakes up at 8am and goes to sleep 8pm. Talk about nightmare
