My DS is quite prone to nappy rash and yeast. i'm making some changes with giving him more nappy-off time and bum changes etc. but i also want to make sure I'm using the best barrier cream.

what do people find works best? I have heard good things about bepanthen, is it better than metanium and sudocrem? Or the same thing? Or is just plain old vaseline best for preventing irritation and problems like that?

Also, since my DS has had recurring yeast is it okay to use caneston cream daily in the long-term, like maybe just one thin layer on his bum before bedtime each day?

xx

we have always used bepanthen.
i dont like metanium, its hard to get off. i find sudo cream doesnt absorb well into the skin.

not sure about the use of caneston cream every day, ring & ask a pharmacy they should be able to help :flower:

Metanium is amazing but I don't think it's designed to be an everyday cream like Sudocrem. It is a bit messy but used sparingly it has worked everytime for us.

Im pretty sure metanium do an everyday barrier cream as well as their nappy rash ointment. Apologies if I'm wrong though. Metanium is my go-to nappy rash cure I swear by it lol.

I find morhulin the best, it works really fast, Emily is prone to nappy rash when she is teething & Morhulin was the only cream that worked for her, I used vaseline after every change as well.

Metanium they do two types a everyday barrier cream that comes out white and is easy to get off and fr when have bad nappy rash they have a different cream that comes out yellow and quite thick it's amazing stuff used on both mine and the rash and sores clear in 2-3days maximum I've tried everything else like betpanthen, sudocrem, Johnsons, supermarket own and nothing works like metanium.

I use metanium after bathtime everyday. LO is in pants in the day now but when she was nappies I didn't use anything unless she had a rash then I would use Sudocrem

I have used Metanium, Sudacrem, Bepanthem, Bottom Butter, Supermarkets, Vasaline, you name it. I have found that different rashes respond to different things. Bottom Butter is the one I go to first as it clears most things.

we use straight zinc ointment, the main ingredient in diaper rash cream, and it usually clears it up by the next day

a plain bath every night always help sooth my LO if he ever gets a bit of nappy rash, along with using a bit of bepanthem but I only put it on if its near the time of day hes going to do a poo so it protect his skin, I think putting cream on every time can make it worse as the skin never gets chance to breath.

metanium, you can get an everyday use one(white tube) which is what i use then i use the yellow one if she actually has a rash. xx

metanium. swear by it the yellowy one not the everydayx

Ive found that ive had to change creams every now and then as my boys rash suddenly stops responding to them (i only use a cream if he has a sore bum) Ive used bepantham, sudocrem and e45 i find e45 the best at the moment. Also I wash and pat dry his bum then lightly powder him for his nappy free time. Sometimes thats enough to do the trick :)

I use sudocreme most days but if LO has a nappy rash we switch to Metanium, it is fab and clears it up almost straight away
