So as some of you may know I developed gestational hypertension about a month ago. Last Friday I had an aot with my doctor and she told me she thought it was getting to dangerous to leave it and to head to the hospital for an induction (at 37+2).

So I headed to the hospital ( a nervous wreck) to start my induction. The doctor checked me and I was 1 cm dialated but my cervix was long and thick. The doctor put the pill in to soften my cervix. 3 hours later he checked and there was no change so he out 2 pills in. After taking a short walk later that night (im lucky to have been allowed to walk at all...as all they want is to keep you hooked to monitors..ugh) contractions started showing up on the monitor. I wasnt really feeling them...but they were there. The doctor didnt check me again as there were contractions.

The next morning another doctor from my practice took over. She checked me and I was still only 1 cm and still long and thick. She put another pill up and came back 3 hours later. She said there was slight thinning but nothing significant. She went ahead and started pitocin but she didnt seem to think it would work.

The pitocin made the contractions come on fast. They were pretty strong but more then anything they were VERY close together often coming every minute. It was awful!! I couldnt deal with it....at least not knowing it was only the beginning. The doctor said she would check me after 2-3 hrs to see if any progres had happened.

After maybe an hour I got up to use the bathroom and my water broke. The contractions came on stronger and were still only 1 min apart. The doctor said she would give me another hour to get any changes and check ,y cervix again.

An hour passed...I was so desperate as the contractions were so close together. She went ahead and check me only to tell me there had benn absolutely no change. I was heartbroken! Espicially when she said she thought I had to have a c-section. She said it was 2 high risk at this point especially at my weight and would be so much worse if I ended up with an emergency c-section. So I ended up agreeing even though I dreaded a c-section! I didnt have much of a choice at this point as my water had broken so they couldnt stop the induction and I had already been in labor fo 30 hourse with no changes.

The c-section was a bit of a surreal experience...scary for me. Baby Shane was born at 11:18 pm on 11/6/10 with no complecations! He weighed 6 lbs 5 oz and was 18 inches long. So tiny to say the least! He lost weight (as most babies do and is 5 lbs 14 oz as of now. I was released from the hospital today and finally got to bring my little man home! Hes doing beautifully!
