so luisa was sleeping 10-9am now she is waking in the night because she keeps wriggling out of her covers!

in the moses basket she couldnt go no were! but now she is getting right up the other end of the cot bed! :dohh:

we usually swaddle her and then tuck her in with one blanket over the top.. so i am puttin her feet to end of the cot bed.. and she is ending up right out of the swaddle and blanket! and getting to the top of the cot

her head was on the side of the cot this morning... should i put a bumper on the side too?

i was thinking of trying her in the sleeping bags again.. she hated before she needs her arms strapped down to sleep or she flings them about and wakes up...

ive read its not safe to tuck them in with there arms under the blanket,.. so i was scared to do this.. but then this is what we do with her swaddle...

hi , the sleeping bags might be a good idea or a "walk in sleeper" (which is a fleece sleepsuit that goes over the normal one, i used these instead of the bags)

when my son was little he used to have to have his arms pinned down too, but he out grew it fairly quickly as he soon prefered to be able to wriggle.

as far as iknow it isn't unsafe to put the blanket over the arms but definatly not above shoulder / armpit hight, my lo has never wriggled under the covers but frequently wriggled out from them or kicked them off. make sure you use the feet to foot position in the cot and you should be fine, she'll soon out grow liking her arms being pinned im sure :)
oh .. and as long as the matress fits the cot properly theres no harm in her head being at the side of the cot, yuo could use a bumper if you prefer but i believe as soon as the baby can sit is is advised that you dont use them any more so i never bothered.
hope this helps

thank you def cant wait for her to outgrow the swaddle its so hard to get her to nap :dohh:

i was just worried she would hurt herself hence the thought of bumpers...

I used a blanket on aiden when he was in his moses basket cause like you LO he couldn't really go anywhere lol but then when he went into his cotbed i moved him onto growbags which are brill cause they have room too move and wherever baby goes growbag goes too lol xx

I would avoid bumpers for now, they decrease the air circulation in the crib significantly which can increase the risk of SIDS (and can make it to hot in the crib as well). We only put ours up when Kathryn kept getting her arms and legs stuck through the bars. As for the swaddle if she's escaping have you tried a swaddle blanket that has velcro? We had a Swaddle Me and it worked very well. Also you say she ends up with her head on the side of the crib, have you tried a sleep positioner? They work pretty well until LO can roll over.

I'll recommend the safe baby sleeper - we used it in our cot bed and he certainly seemed a lot happier. That way she won't be able to travel too far!

Oh no... not the dreaded swaddle! Harry was swaddled for the first few months, but trying to get him out of it was horrendous! It got to the point where it was such a struggle each night trying to find new ways to swaddle him tight enough so that he wouldn't escape and wake himself up with his flailing arms. Eventually I gave up and we stuck him in a sleeping bag and just rode out the storm for a few nights. With my next baby, I will still swaddle, but I think i'll try and get baby in a sleeping bag earlier. They're definitely a good idea.

I dont think you should use bumpers IMO i would rather bubs face be on the side of the cot rather covered with cloth IFYKWIM. i use a growbag as i figured when he used to try get out of he swaddle he obv didnt want to be in it.

You could mabye try swaddling until she is asleep then unrevealing her when she is in the cot?

Hope this helps as i am not too sure as my LO has been in his cotbed since birth :)

Had a look at that... I thought you were ment too put baby too sleep feet to bottom (its what my health visitor has always stressed with me)

Also when do i stop putting aiden feet too bottom? (6 months old now && still feet too bottom)?
