Me and my partner want to give our child a traditional spanish name we are from peru and colombia only thing is because we are in england the name might not go well because it sounds like 'floor'' the 'r' is rolled also my partners ex was called flor lol but im in love with the name opinions?

(flor means flower in spanish)

Well actually the name Fleur has received a revival recently and so have Flora and Florence which are all derivatives of the name you like.

I thought it was really pretty and didn't think of it sounding like 'Floor' until I read the rest of your post. Maybe it's because I'm Italian and the name isn't unfamiliar to me, but I think it's nice. As said though, there are other derivatives if you want to give her the 'flower' name but are unsure of how that particular one would be received by none Spanish speakers.

i like it, i also reaally like Flora

Thanks everyone its just such a shame my partners ex is named Flor even before I met my partner Flor was always my choice but maybe it is a sign that his ex had that name I dont think my partner has come round to the idea of the name Flor so we are trying out others thanks for your replys guys :)
