Hello ladies! I have decided to start my low carb diet today. Since ttc I quit smoking a few weeks ago and am now ready to bring in the next phase of my getting healthy and ttc plan! I will do the low carb diet as a new way of life. How many women have a low carb diet as a way of life and love it!?!? Also if anyone could give me some pointer's I would appreciate it too! I am not sure how many have heard of the Atkin's diet, but that is the diet I am following.

Hello! I have had great results with the low carb diet. I recommend buying some low carb wraps first thing! I buy the mama lupe ones, not sure if they have them everywhere, but they only have about 3 net carbs each. If I want pizza, I put a wrap in a pan until crispy, then add pizza sauce, cheese, mushrooms, whatever and pop in the oven. You can also do tacos with them. It makes things so easy! Its easier after those first few days and you start seeing results fast! Just be careful when ttc that you still get enough good carbs, as they are important too. Whole grains etc. Good luck to you!

I am planning on starting my low carb next Monday after I get a chance to zip down to the states and grab some supplies (we don't have very much in the way of low carb stuff in Canada).

I've done it before and it definitely works for weight loss. I can lose 10-20lbs in the first couple weeks. The first week or so is rough, you will be craving sugar, but once you get into it you feel great!

I did it before getting pregnant and loved it, lost 6 stone and would have stayed eating low carb forever but pregnancy knocked it all on the head a bit. Eventually I'll get back to it, I felt so much better low-carbing!
I second what lanet said above - get the Mama Lupe low carb wraps, just being able to have a sarnie with them makes a world of difference, esp if you ever need packed lunches.

This morning I went and got the atkins shakes, and some indulge bars! I will have to look for the Lupe wraps....we do have low carb tortilla's but they are 4 net grams of carb. I was doing it once before and loved it as well. I figure a good way to lose a good amount of weight in the first few weeks and then continue with it until preggo...once preggo I will just add some more carbs to my diet.

My sis has
Been on two low carb diets. Both times she got pregnant
:)

Good
Luck

I'm on it too!

How are you ladies doing at the low carbing? I will be heading to the USA tomorrow to pick up my supplies!

I was about to update right now lol! I am doing great! I feel wonderful! I have lost 5 pounds so far:happydance:. I am not exercising and am going to start tomorrow so that way it starts coming off faster! Thanks for asking!

I was just reading the other day about how low carb diets can help with fertility, especially ladies with PCOS. I read some very encouraging stories, so I decided I'm going to start low carbing if I'm not pregnant this cycle.

I did a low carb diet several years ago, I had a lot to lose back them and got great results from it.

i'm just curious as to what you ladies eat while doing low carb? i did it years ago and lost some weight. I cant for the life of me remember how to do it or know if i can be that strict again!

It's great if you like to eat meat, fish and cheese, eggs too.
I used to eat a lot of the above, (though as time went by I found my appetite faded, so not so much after a while.) and low carb veg such as greens, spinach, cabbage, and cucumber, brocolli, cauliflower, erm.... can't remember what other low carb veg there are? I think tomatoes, onions and peppers are quite low, but not really low?
Cheese salads with lots of leaves, omelettes, chunks of cheese, meat, smoked fish.
I think avacados are quite low too? Back then I didn't like them but lately I've been going nuts for avocados. Oh and nuts! After induction I think? It's been a while.

Hmmmmm.. what else.. I used to make ice cream with cream and strawberries and splender.

It can get a bit dull after a while, but I found it great for killing cravings and reducing hunger levels.

Well the first place I started out was going to Atkins.com. I signed up for free and they sent me a starter kit and some atkin's bars as well. It is really easy. You eat lots of meats, eggs, cheese, lettuce, cauliflower, and broccoli......I get the low carb tortilla's and make wraps. The first few weeks consist of 20 grams of carb/ a day and they want you to get 80-90% of your carbs from veggies for the first few weeks. I also get the atkin's shakes and snaks to help curb appetite as well. Feel free to message me and ask more questions. GL!

Sommerfugl is right, lots of meats, veggies and cheese is okay is smaller amounts. But there are lots of other options too. Atkins products, as shanmorgan mentioned. There are lots of different types of bars and shakes. Personally, I get the EAS Carb Control shakes and a variety of Atkins bars.

If you do a quick google search you can find a list of low carb foods.

As far as veggies go, there are definitely some to avoid. No potatoes or starchy veggies, no carrots, limited amounts of peppers (I think red peppers have more carbs than others?).

There is tons of info if you google it.

Good luck. And keep us posted on how it goes! I am starting tomorrow and I will be recording my progress on my blog.

you sound just like me a few weeks ago, We're currently residing with my parents and younger sis and her hubby so I fell off the wagon and will restart when we move into our new place just the two of us where there is a state of the art gym and more room for me to have my Atkinas friendly food! 6 adults in one house, sis is due with her first child in a few weeks.. So yeah I'm holding off and trying not to gain too much of the weight back! I will be re-joining you on Atkins here in a matter of weeks!

I started today! I have been soooo hungry all day, and come evening I was really craving something sweet, but I resisted OH's birthday cake in the fridge...

I hope I see results or it's going to be hard to stick at it. I remember that it was great, but I'm struggling to feel just how right now.

What's everyone's plans for when you get your BFPs? Stop or continue? I've not looked into low carb during pregnancy, but I heard you shouldn't do it while breastfeeding so thought maybe the same would apply for pregnancy?

Im struggling a bit with the diet right now...I go on vacation tomorrow I am hoping I can stick with it! I would imagine when we get our BFP we would have to stay away from some of the things we eat a lot like tuna and fish. I would probably continue to watch my carb intake and not over eat just because I am preggo.
