Hi ladies I started clomid on Sunday 25th till Thursday 29th I had no side effects, unfortunately though for the week after I've been have gruelling intense abdo pains iny lower stomach :( I went to docs on wednesday all he told me to do was a pregnancy test incase I was from last month which was negative, an he phoned me today, but the pain is going I hope even though I had a bad night with it all. I just can't work out whether it was the clomid 50mg getting used to my body or visa versa or ovulation, or even implantation but no bleeding we've been being through my pain incase it was ovulation but I just don't know, yesterday the pains were in my back too. Anyone else have comments or been through same experience ? Baby dust for all xxx

Can I ask, who prescribed the Clomid? And are you being monitored?

Has anyone explained the risks of OHSS?

If the pain is still bad, please, do go back to whoever prescribed the Clomid.

Hope you feel better soon.

Hi the gyne prescribed it, an the doc said coz I was only on 50mg that It shouldn't be ohss, no I'm not being monitored they didn't say anything about it.
If it gets worse sod the doc I'm going to hospital lol I'm dreading taking 100mg next month if I have to :(

I think OHSS can happen on any dose really, I was on 50mg and was given a big leaflet warning me of the symptoms etc! I think its rare it does happen on a low dose though.

You know how much pain you are in and how bad you feel, don't let the doctor fob you off! Go back if you need to.

I really hope you feel well soon.

I am on 50mg of clomid and have really bad pains as well. I mean to the point where last cycle I told dh that I thought I needed to go to the hospital cause I thought it was ohss. So I read up on it and how to deal with it and one of the things it said was to drink tons of water...around 10-12 glasses because what happens is when your follies burst, there can sometimes be extra fluid and blood that will fill up stomach cavity. Not your stomach, but the area around your stomach and lungs so you feel very bloated and in a lot of pain from all the fluid. My stomach was very tight, I looked about 6months preggo last month when this happened. So this cycle I did drink tons of water and I still had O pain, but it wasn't nearly as bad and only lasted about a day and half. Last cycle was the pain was about 3-4 days. So it's possible that it could be ohss, but what my fs told me this cycle at our iui, is that when they did my initial scan to see if I was being overstimulated, I wasn't and that she didn't think that's what was going on. She thought it was just my body reacting to the medicine which is a good thing. But I would definately have yourself checked. My gyno didn't monitor me really either, just checked my progesterone after O, but my fs did an intrauterine u/s to look at my follies and ovaries and everything basically to make sure ohss wasn't happening.

Tell them, don't ask them, tell them to look at you to the full extent to make sure. One of the signs is if your estrogen is over 1000 before O...when you get your surge on an opk. So if you are testing using opks, you may want to start so you know when you are about to O, or least supposed to be about to O. I described some of the other symptoms above, but the back pain is normal as well. Some women get this regularly without fertility meds. To help, try drinking tons of water, soaking in a bath, rest with you legs up, and as untimely as it is, no bd cause that could upset things and expel more fluid. People who are under the age of 35, and pcos, and take fertility meds are more prone to get ohss, than other women.

Hope this helps.
