Things you've done when exhausted! My leg is a doctor?

I thought it might be fun to start a thread to share some stories about things you have done in those first exhausting, sleepless weeks and months with a new baby!

Last night DS was up from 2 until 6 because he would wake every time I would put him down. At one point I was sitting up in the bed with him in my arms and rocking back and forth with my legs propped up helping us rock. I guess I was half asleep and dreaming about a doctor at the end of a long day because at one point I found myself telling my right leg (thankfully in my head and not actually out loud) that it had been a long day and to go ahead and go home. As if my leg was the doctor helping me rock the baby. And I was feeling guilty because I knew I could do it with just my arms and I wanted to let my leg leave and get home.

It was the wildest thing because in my head I was seeing my leg as a doctor in a lab coat, but I also knew it was just my leg. Lol. I snapped out of it really quickly and was immediately laughing at myself for somehow falling into a state where I could possibly think my leg was independent of the rest of my body--and a doctor, no less. :haha:

I guess 4am will do that to you.

With my first baby she was crying one night and my husband came in to pick her up. It was dark and in my sleep deprived state I passed her to him upside down and it took him a minute to realise that her feet were in his face and she was the wrong way around. Poor baby!

Everytime my DS woke up during the night for the first few seconds thought I had a daughter instead. I still do sometimes think "oh she's crying!"
No idea why!

I thought my newborn son the pillow next to me was my husband but further away XD

With my first daughter all in one afternoon I burnt the potatoes, put the half open tuna tin in the oven instead of the fridge and the clean plates in the tinned food cupboard. I didn't realise about the plates or tuna until I was looking for the tuna and the plates.

OH has always been a really heavy sleeper but I woke up one night to him standing over DS' crib talking... when I got up to ask him what he was doing he turned to me and said "there are other dragons here our age" and turned back to our sleeping baby and said "his name is matthew".... our sons name is Corey. He doesn't remember it at all but I still enjoy picking on him for it. haha!

So glad this doesn't just happen to me, I thought I was completely hallucinating! One night I found myself rummaging through the tray under bubs bassinet full of spare blankets because I thought another baby was stuck in there lol
