I thought it might be fun to start a thread to share some stories about things you have done in those first exhausting, sleepless weeks and months with a new baby!
Last night DS was up from 2 until 6 because he would wake every time I would put him down. At one point I was sitting up in the bed with him in my arms and rocking back and forth with my legs propped up helping us rock. I guess I was half asleep and dreaming about a doctor at the end of a long day because at one point I found myself telling my right leg (thankfully in my head and not actually out loud) that it had been a long day and to go ahead and go home. As if my leg was the doctor helping me rock the baby. And I was feeling guilty because I knew I could do it with just my arms and I wanted to let my leg leave and get home.
It was the wildest thing because in my head I was seeing my leg as a doctor in a lab coat, but I also knew it was just my leg. Lol. I snapped out of it really quickly and was immediately laughing at myself for somehow falling into a state where I could possibly think my leg was independent of the rest of my body--and a doctor, no less.

I guess 4am will do that to you.
