So, over the past three weeks I've been pumping three times a day in place of a feed to introduce bottles (returning to work, wah). I've noticed that I'm only pumping about an ounce or maybe two when I used to pump over 4.

I realize that the pump isn't as effective as when I nurse and maybe my daughter gets more when I nurse her but how can I tell for sure, you know?

How do you know that it's time to start supplementing? I don't know her current weight, she goes to her six mo check up in a few weeks.

At this point, I'm not opposed to introducing formula to supplement. Just wondering how to tell for sure that your supply is dropping.

Me too. I am trying to pump extra, but then I dont seem to have enough to feed him.

I noticed my pumping output went down at 10 weeks (I think because my supply regulated maybe ). I had to start pumping 4 times during the work day to cover my basis. After doing this for 1.5 weeks, my supply has gone back up. I can now pump just a few minutes longer and get enough in 3 pumping secessions.
If you have any extra time, I would try that.

As for LO, I'm sure she would let you know, if she was not getting enough (by fussing and constantly going back to the boob for more). This is pure speculation on my part though.

You can go to a lactation group, and they usually weigh LO before feeding and again after (at least here they do), to see how many ounces LO drank.
