ive been thinking for a while that my milk supply has been getting lower and lower and have just expressed and i only managed to get 1oz combined out of both boobs  i thought maybe my boob wasnt empty so i put her to it and she had a tiny bit more then did her usual 'the boob is empty' fleg! so i might have to start thinking of formula...i realllly dont want to give her formula, no offence to mammies who use formula i just really had my heart set on breastfeeding her till she was 6months

sooo disappointed!!

:hugs: You've given your little girl so much in the past 2 months. If this is the end you honestly should feel nothing but pride!!!

torias so right...... if anyone on here can help you it's these grand booby mums. xx

Don't try formula just yet...a pump isn't a very good way to tell how much your body is truly making, she will get alot more out of you than the pump will. But try upping your water intake, take some vitamins (prenatals are good and safe), you can also eat oatmeal, take some fenugreek, mothers milk tea (I haven't personally tried that one but heard it works well). All of those things can up your supply, but if you start supplementing it will most likely drop even more since she isn't telling your body how much she really needs. Good luck!

If you want cheerleaders and help to keep you going we'll be here and if you've decided that you're all boobied out we'll still be here to pat you on the back :awww:

xx

thank you everyone, i really do want to carry on, i just dont want her to starve you know? im not sure what to do

You wont starve her honey! Try not to doubt yourself. If you want to keep going if would be a shame to stop now - you've just nicely passed the 6 week ish mark when things really start getting easier. Your boobs will be getting where they dont fill and empty the same - they will start to produce literally on demand. Leyley will suck and the milk will just come.

I think we all go through times when we are a bit wobbly and wonder if they are getting enough - if this is one of those times then all I can say is believe in yourself. Try not to get too hung up on amounts, especially when it comes to pumping. Pumps are simply not as good as babies for getting milk out. I think I said in your other thread today that if you want to pump more you need to try to get into a routine.

If you want to stop then you've done a smashing job honey but to me it just sounds after reading your other threads like you're just doubting yourself a bit.

thanks hun, i am doubting myself tbh, i know shes putting on weight and everything, its just sometimes she looks like she needs more milk and it frustrates me cos i dont have any more, i was just so adamant that i would be able to breastfeed and i think i thought it was going to be easier than this lol, i think its because when she was newborn no one told me i had to wake her from sleep and feed her every 4 hours so sometimes she went 6hrs inbetween feeds 2 or 3 times a day! i just assumed she would wake when she was hungry but have since been told thats not the case lol, ah well, i will keep trying!

thanks babes

When Hebe was a newborn she would go for 4 hours plus and then sometimes an hour - there was no pattern to it.

If you ever want a natter PM me. You have done incredibly well already and you probably dont realise it but you are right on the cusp of the really easy bit. :winkwink: It's just about to come good and get even easier - I promise xx

I had the empty feeling at about this time as well and i nearly gave in and topped her up but i persisted and just kept on swopping sides drinking loads eating loads of oats and after a few days it came to and it got loads easier. Your doing a great job hun :)

porridge for breakfast every morning i think

tbh i havent been eating / drinking very much cos i just dont seem to have the time, i have the time to be on here though so mebbe i'll stop coming on so much and have something to eat instead :dohh:
