Am going to call the HV on monday but wanted to talk to people on here to see what you all think..

Basically Emily has always been a cry-ey baby but since I've switched from breastfeeding to formula, she cries pretty much all of the time she's awake and seems like she's really suffering...her belly seems to always be making strange noises as well... She has some of the symptoms of constipation but until today she seemed to be pooing normally (she hasn't pooed today) and pretty much all of the symptoms of colic. Infacol doesn't seem to be doing anything but I'll give it a few more days before I write it off... I don't know whether I should give her cooled boiled water or not because I don't know whether it's constipation or colic...or both!! :dohh:

The problem is that she's on SMA Gold, and I really wish she was on cow and gate or aptamil so I could try the comfort versions. Is it worth trying to swap brands so that I can try the comfort versions? Shall I just try the normal versions of a different brand? Shall I just try her on a ready made carton to see how she gets on?? If so should I get cow and gate or aptamil??? So many questions!!

When we first switched to FF she seemed fine on SMA Gold but she was mostly getting EBM at the time. It's only since it's tipped to being mostly Formula that we've had problems...

Sorry this is so waffly and confused...I haven't been getting much sleep lately!! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

All I can say is that I have been told, both with my 7year old & this LO not to use SMA, it can often cause constipation

I fed aptamil to my 7year old & my Daughter now

Good luck :flower:

(I have to say, I fed my 18year old on SMA when he was a baby & it was Ok)

It's so annoying, I'd have never bought SMA from choice myself but it's the only one that was in the corner shop on boxing day when we ran out and bought it in a rush!!! :-/

I think you could still put her onto one of the comfort milks, I went from aptamil 1st to aptamil comfort and although the milks are the same brand they are quite different from the taste to the way they are made so I can't see how changing from sma to one of the others makes would the change any harder iykwim? . My baby felt alot better when we changed to comfort, we had the same symptoms as you. Good luck whatever you do x
