Has anyone had any experience or bein told there old c-section scar has thinned an you will have 2 be monitored an scar accessed in third trimester. Currently trying for no 2 an FS is worrying me he has already written up letter an attached pics for the hospital for first visit.so worried about rupture.i guess what I'm asking is anyone else bein told this?? Did you have any problems?? Was baby delivered early?? It's 4 years since c-section

I just talked to my dr about my scar actually. He said there is no definitive test to tell who's scar is weak and who's is strong. You can do a scan but the medical community has not established a rule on what they consider a risk. He also said the only risk of rupture is at a particular part of labour. It's impossible for your previous scar to rupture during pregnancy as it just doesn't work that way.

After 4 years I'd say your safe to go forward for sure. The recommendations are to wait 2 years between surgeries so your more than fine. If you had complications or massive infection I can see why they'd want to monitor but it wouldn't be for rupture. There's a slight concern with the next placenta adhering onto the previous scar which can cause issues. But that's incredibly rare.

I've had two experiences with this. My first two c-sections went well. With my third, I went into labour early, so the dr tried to stop it for a few days. I thus had weak contractions on and off for about 3 days. From 6am on the Thursday, contractions were stronger and every 10 min and I knew it won't be stopped anymore. I went to my appointment (dr was seeing me every day) and she said that my uterus was thinning and bleeding, so the c-section was done that day. It hasn't ruptured, but did start to tear ever so slightly. It wasn't a big emergency or anything, I even first went home to sort out my kids and get my bags.

Four years later I again went into early labour. This time we staved it off for 3 weeks with medication. Contractions were constant and regular, but it never progressed past early labour. I went to the dr on a Monday and she said the scar and uterus is still fine and thick. Wednesday night I went into more established labour and went to the dr on Thursday afternoon. She immediately scheduled the c-section because the uterus thinned out so much that when she did an internal she could feel my baby's hair through the uterus!! 2 Hours later I held my beautiful, healthy baby girl in my arms. But the dr did say that my uterus is now done for it, I won't be able to carry another baby in it. It was so thinned out during the c-section, that she struggled to stop the bleeding and stitch it up.

I'm just grateful I have 4 beautiful children after 4 c-sections, so I had my tubes tied.

My doctor seems pritty concerned he took all the pictures on internal scan an its clear as day a v-shaped pocket of scar tissue that has thinned ill try post the picture so you can see what I'm talking bout.he seems pritty sure if I conceive that I will have 2 deliver early an be reassed in third trimester. He said normal on an internal scan you can never tell if someone has had a previous c-section I'm worried sick about getting pregnant again as I'm having trouble conceiving again any so don't need added stress of what he's telling me. I'd be really happy if I could just have 1 more. Thanks for reply :winkwink:

God you really do have experience with it.. An congrats on having 4 beautiful children. Do they think your early labours where due 2 thinning ??my doctor seem 2 think when the uterus thins like that it will cause early labour. Do you think when it started 2 tear on your third if you had left it, it would of ruptured??im so nervous I'm currently on fertility Meds trying 2 conceive again. We have being tring 2.5 years for no 2 so 2 hear all this last week was a big shock now I feel like once I finally get pregnant ill be wording the whole time instead of enjoying xxx

No, my early labours have been caused by kidney problems and infections every time. I had to take medication to stop labour in every pregnancy of mine, even my first (from 19 weeks already!).

I do think if I had stronger contractions that's closer together in my 4th pregnancy, that it would've ruptured the uterus. But I didn't feel scared so much during my third. I'm probably wrong and should've been scared, but somehow it just wasn't that big a deal at that point?! But with my 4th I just knew that it could all go wrong. It started at 34 weeks already when I went into early labour and spent a night in hospital to stop it.

Just to clear up. Even after my 3rd c-section and the fact that it thinned, my dr still told me afterwards that if I wait long enough, I can go ahead and have a fourth.

I believe that as long as your doctor knows all the risks of your individual case, you and baby will be fine. It doesn't stop us from worrying, but it's reassuring if you have a dr that's good and that will keep an eye on you. They know when to keep a close eye on you. Try not to worry too much, at least not during the first 2 trimesters. And just keep an eye on what you feel. Rather go in too many times to be checked out.

Some of the symptoms I experienced or were told out to look out for was pain the scar, especially when the pain doesn't go away. I had pain in the scar all throughout my pregnancies, but it would go away for a day, then come back, then go away. When it doesn't go away but worsenes in intensity, that's when you need to worry. Also, it's a burning feeling when it starts to tear, not a constant dull ache. A friend of mine whose uterus also started to tear at 36 weeks, said she could barely walk into the dr's office because her scar was so sore. Blood in the urine (making it dark/brownish) is also a sign.

Good luck!! I hope you'll be pregnant soon, and that it will all go smoothly. :hugs:

That would be nice, thank you! I do hope you'll be blessed real soon!! But try to enjoy every minute of the whole process if you can. It's sad now that I'm all done with WTT, TTC, pregnancy, birth, etc.
