Ex DH gave Eddie some coins (coppers) when he last visited and ever since he's clutched them in his hand and refused to let them go.

Well last night my 5 year old had her school disco so we walked over to pick her up at the end. On the way home however, we were crossing the road, I heard money drop and realised Eddie had taken the money out (he told me he'd left it in his room) and it was all over the road.

Then he ran to get it... infront of a car and I had to abandon Ella and the buggy and drag him backwards. By this point he was hysterical :(. I got him to the side of the road and he ran out again infront of another car. Luckily this one stopped but I still obviously had to leave the money and drag him back again. I managed to calm him down, wait for the traffic to pass and crawl about in the road myself getting it for him but he was beside himself over some bloody coppers

Why can't he just give them proper gifts? Or maybe just nothing at all? Eddie was so near to being hit last night and ex DH knows how attached he gets to odd things like that. I'm just upset over what could have happened and yet again I'm left to sort it all out when I didn't even cause the situation. Story of my life.

Ohhh  poor little lad. What a scary situation for you..

Maybe explain to your ex what has happened and that next time he should put some thought into his 'gifts.' :hugs:

Oh poor Eddie! I would tell your ex what happened and encourage him to think before he acts! :hugs:

Awww I know what it's like... my sons father took off in July and anything he EVER gave my son, the little guy treasures. Pennies and marbles kind of stuff. A couple of times if I gave him a little toy I said it was from Daddy to make him smile...he missed him so much.
