I'm doing a degree in biology and here is my go at a few...

metabolic regulatory functions in a neuron....could be the synapse, where neurotransmitters are released into the synaptic junction.

the second part of the last question could be "differentiation", for example how haematopoetic stem cells differentiate to become red blood cells, white blood cells, etc.
