I am starting to really love the name Kenadee

I am surprised bc most of the other names on my list are very feminine, girly names (that end in "a"): Lilliana, Chiara, Mariah, Kayliana, Sophia, Kaiya, etc. (I usually like "princess" type names!)

What do you think of the name Kenadee?? I know some people prefer traditional spellings (Kennedy) but i prefer "Kena" if people shorten it rather than "Kenny" which is why i prefer the alternative spelling.... Plus i just think it looks prettier!

Does anyone know of any other nicknames for this name??

One of the reasons i like the name so much is bc i grew up on Kennedy Street when i was a kid.... so it has sentimental value (although for the exact same reason i wonder if my family would be like, "What? Why would you name the baby after the street we used to live on??")

Sorry -- i'm just kinda thinking out loud! But would love your honest thoughts & opinions! :flower:

I love that name! I've never seen it spelled like that, but it's on me and my hubbys short list. I think we prefer the common spelling, but I love the alternative one as well! I actually consider Kennedy to be a really feminine name, TBH!

I think nicknames like 'Kenny' or even 'Addy' could be really cute based on that name.

i love the name  and i like how you spell it

i also think its a very girly name xxxx

I love that you guys think it's "girly" -- i'm starting to find it more girly too! Starting to fall in love with the name!!!!!!

A co-worker mentioned that her niece-to-be will be named Kennedy -- and in my head i was like "NOOOOOOOO! Don't steal my name!" Lol. Luckily i don't know her relatives -- but it made me think i better have a baby girl ASAP & use the name before somebody i do know steals it! (which happened with the last name i fell in love with!)

Thanks for the replies -- keep `em coming!

Maybe if i get lots of positive responses i can show OH & get her on board with the name too!

Kennedy was one of the names I wanted to give my daughter, but hubby wouldn't go for it. I couldn't ever spell it any other way though. I'm old fashioned I guess.

I'm not sure I like it, but I think it's OK.

However, as a teacher, I find that names that aren't spelled in the traditional way cause upset for the child, they are constantly having to tell people (their friends, their friend's parents etc.) how to spell and pronounce their name and you can see them getting annoyed about it. It's personal opinion though and whatever you decide fair enough, but I just know that any name that I eventually choose will be spelt in the traditional way so as not to cause confusion and difficulty as the LO grows up.

Thanks Claire! I will def take that into consideration...

I am really not fond of crazy spellings for names (My friend's nephew's name is spelled J'Syn!!!!!!!) But i guess i don't think of Kenadee as being a crazy & weird spelling.... Plus i love that it's pronounced exactly as at looks. I always have hated my name being misspronounced (Tamara). With some of the crazy names teachers encounter nowadays i think Kenadee should be pretty straight-forward?? Besides, Kennedy isn't that common or traditional of a name to begin with, i don't think? So i feel like there is a bit more wiggle room with it, iykwim?

Hhmmm....... i will have to think more about it....... I certainly don't want the name i choose to be a "burden"....... But in my mind Kennedy looks like a last name.... & Kenadee looks like a sweet/pretty girl's first name!

Thanks for all the feedback -- please keep your opinions coming!

Love it - and nickname could be kenna, which is another name I love.
