Just wondering if any managed to avoid buying a double buggy and how you did it. What happens when eldest didn't want to walk etc? Or when it rained?

If I spend out all teh money I'm worried my eldest won't want to use it and it won't last long as a double. Considering the expense and if |I can avoid it altogether or whether 21 months is too young to kick her out of buggy.

bump..............

DH says I'm being totally selfish in wanting one see, thinks I can cope with wearing baby til 6 months, and then toddler will be 2 yrs old and will walk more often.

Ok for someone to say who doesn't find school run a rush enough as it is that I barelt get 2 showers a week and has both steep hills back and forth, is less than 5ft tall so not overly strong nor fit.

I suggested he could cope without beer/canteen lunches everyday, swimming 2-3 times a week and football once a week as I think the cost of those would be similar. When i suggested this he went off on one and told me i was borderline 'too posh too push'??? I've spent 4 days pushing and intend to again this time.

I said he was 'too posh to road run for free fitness!

I never buy anything for myself and although the buggy i want is dear i feel it's a need. Not like i'm buying a handbag.

I would think you'd need a double esp doing the school run. You might get more experienced mummys over in the toddler club. You could look on the 2nd hand market I am sure lots of people buy doubles that they only really need for a short time.

Mine are 21 months apart and I bought a double (side by side) and my eldest won't go in it any more! She doesn't walk well at all, in fact she hates it and has tantrums all the time. I haven't come to a solution yet. I have a buggy board to try with the eldest as I've heard a lot of good things about that.

To be honest I wear the 11 week old an awful lot. I find it tonnes easier than lugging the buggy everywhere. And the baby isn't the world's biggest fan of the buggy.

We only spent £120 on our buggy, have used it a handful of times and found it a total waste of money.

I don't have a school run to do though, I might think differently if I did!

it depends what sort of child your eldest is. i have a 21 month age gap between my 2 eldest and the double buggy was a necessity for me! used it loads!
