I will try to keep this brief so bare with me. I am 33 weeks pregnant. Sunday evening my husband and I were cooking dinner when I suddenly didn't feel very well. Almost nauseous, but it wasn't bad. Right after that out of nowhere I got terrible cramps, almost like gas that lasted for several minutes and was so painful it had me bowled over in the kitchen. I thought I may just need to use the restroom and when I stood back up my pelvis was hurting so bad I could hardly move. It took a while to waddle to the restroom lol. When I finally did get to the toilet I went #2 (TMI, sorry) and after I was done and about to stand back up I felt this huge gush of fluid. I was confused at first and didn't know if it was pee or not, but I had just peed shortly before that so I didn't think it was. It certainly didn't "feel" like pee! I pushed with my vagina and a second big gush of liquid came out and I was fairly certain it was my water breaking. I waited around for a little bit, called every woman I knew that had had a baby (most were induced...no luck there) and called the hospital who told me to put on a pad. I did and a tiny bit came out but not much. I peed again and realized that what had happened before was definitely NOT pee so we went to the hospital. They did two separate tests and both said no to amniotic fluid but I have no idea what else it could be? I've read stories about people whose water really did break but were ignored or told otherwise and it turned out to be detrimental! I don't want to be in that situation. Has anyone else had something like this happen?

I should mention both my husband and I are in the military (in the US) and our care is...lacking. We get two ultrasounds, one to date and one at 20 weeks, and no more. I have had two more because they couldn't find the heartbeat at one appointment and the second was because she was measuring small (she actually measures big). So I am assuming the fluid in there is fine, or that if it was that the hole has repaired itself and the fluid has regenerated but I got no US so I don't know...and the doctor doesn't see me again for another 4 weeks. Reassure me please?

hmm not for sure, but if you were able to push it out it doesnt sound like your waters but I could be wrong. Im also in the US, husband is military and I have so far had awesome care, i think it varies by the location...the only thing I can suggest is maybe getting a private ultrasound done....they normally cost 45-55 but can definitely put your mind at ease

It sound like it could have just been extra discharge. I get gushes of it lots. Mostly after a bowel movment actually. But also just randomly. If the doctors did the tests for your waters I would trust them. The tests are pretty straight forward and clear. Also doesn't sound like ba care at all. We typically only get one ultrasound at 20 weeks unless there are complications because they aren't really needed otherwise.

Take it easy and rest up. If it keeps happening then I'd go to the hospital and get them to recheck.

I also agree that it was most likely discharge as their tests would be accurate. Also, a dating scan and an anatomy scan is totally normal. That's all I had with all 7 of my kiddos unless there was a medical reason otherwise.

My best friend here is a spouse, we have the same doctors but get completely different treatment. It's odd. She is able to get same day appointments and has had an US every doctor appointment. It probably isn't my water but ughhhhh I'm so uncomfortable! These next few weeks need to hurry up. :winkwink:

I agree that the test is pretty definitive of amniotic fluid. But a huge gush does seem questionable - my water broke with my son in a huge gush. It took 2 bath towels to mop it up. I also had more liquid come out when I would exert myself (stand, walk etc). It sounds like water to me (my water breaking is nothing like pee!!), but again the test showing up negative is odd if it was.

When my waters broke with my boys it was like an explosion lol and heaps and heaps of fluid. If they tested it, it probably wasnt your water if it was negative. Can they give you a scan to check your fluid levels?

Could it possibly be your hind waters or did they rule that out also?

Could it have been your bladder? Sometimes after I pee and I'm done with my business, suddenly I pee some more as I'm pulling up the panties. I get no control over it.

I'm surprised the hospital didn't do a scan. Most military hospitals are all about visual scans if they can when the mom to be is worried. If I were you I'd be calling up the appointment line for the doc until they got me in. A lot of times there is a difference between active duty and spouses, mostly because spouses have no consequences if they decide they need to raise their voice and throw a fit (not saying they all do, but the few who have, change the way military docs treat them) best of luck to you
