Thought on a name we love - how many Lily's do you know?

We've both loved the name Lily since.. well forever really but it's really disappointing me that it's still number 12 in the UK last year. It has gone down from number 1 a few years ago but that is still ALOT of Lily's. I just can't seem to get used to any other names.

I'm just wondering how many Lily's do you all know? Do you think it's too popular? I don't really want our daughter to be in a class with a few other Lily's at school.

xx

I know quite a few, it is still popular but very pretty :)

If we hadn't used it for DD's middle name we'd definitely have used it for this baby!

I know a few but all older, 5+. I don't know any infant Lily's (friends LO's, children at playgroup, siblings at nursery etc) so it seems to falling in popularite, at least in my area. It is a lovely name :).

I know it's pretty popular in the UK, not so much here (in US) but I do see/hear it a lot on tv/movies, mostly used for children in the films.

By the way, I'm having the same issue. I've always been in love with the name Isabella (it was one of two favorite soap opera characters). I've had this name on my list since I was about 11! Thanks to the dumb Twilight movies it hit the top of the charts (so people could call their kids Bella for short). I'm so peeved!!!!! I especially don't want people to hear my baby's name and automatically assume I'm a big Twilight fan... nothing could be further from the truth. I hate the character of Bella!

I've never met a Lily in my life, but I live in New Zealand so I don't know how popular it is here.

I do not know any Lilys (other than Lily Allen). I think it's a really pretty name. I understand how you would shy away from a popular name--I adore the name Charlotte and that is super popular where I live--but if you love a name use it! She'll be *your* Lily and that's all that matters. :)

I have a lily. I don't know any others.

I know several Lily's but they are all under the age of 5 - I also know several Liliana's (and assume they will eventually be called Lily too).

I have never known anyone else in my entire life with this name. That being said - it's not really a common name I don't think. It's just currently "popular" - but that still doesn't mean there are many ppl on the planet with this name. Not common like the millions of Johns and Jennifers around.

I say if you love it - go for it!

I really do like it. I would consider using it if I ever had another baby.

It's very popular in our area, out of people I work with, 6 have had Lily / Lilly in the past 3 years and there are definitely at least 3 in my daughter's room at nursery. It's very pretty though and worth consideration if you love it.

I always loved the name Lily/Lilly. But it is quite popular where I am. My cousin was going to use the name Lily for her daughter (which everyone knew) and then, 2 days before she gave birth, her best friend also gave birth and named her daughter Lily!
Anyway, my cousin then decided to change it slightly, and ended up calling her daughter Lilah :) I think it is a beautiful name. Maybe you could use a slight alteration of Lily?
