I'm having such a hard time choosing a baby name for our little girl. We have 3 boys. My first choice was Maisie, but then other people kind of ruined it for me (one said everyone will call her Macy, another said that's a dog's name :( ) I've searched other names and I just keep coming back to Maisie. My concern is that it's too "cute" of a name for an adult, and I do not like the name Margaret so I don't want to name her something like that and give her the nn Maisie. It's either Maisie or a different name. I keep catching myself thinking about the baby and referring to her as Maisie in my head, like "oh we have to get Maisie a new dresser"

What are your thoughts on the name Maisie?

I like the name Maisie, it doesn't remind me of a dog at all! I also think it's a life long name as such, it doesn't sound odd at any point in life when I think about a person called it.

It's actually really popular in the UK - which is probably the only thing that would put me off it!

I think the name maisie is lovely and works well on an adult too.
As pp said its super popular in the UK, especially in my daughters age range (5-6) and there are two in her class. I still think its a lovely name though.

Very popular in the UK as already mentioned, and it's a beautiful name 😀

It's a lovely name, not too common x

I love it but then am biased as its DD1's name. I see it as a name for each stage, child and adult, when I named her it people often commented that it was an 'older' persons name that was kind of coming back.

I'm in the UK and where I am it's not that common actually, I know each area is different but I only know of one other girl with the name and certainly not a name here you see popping up with a few in each class :)

Another UK lady here; it is very popular here (South West) and I've not heard any negative remarks abut it not ageing well when people have said its on their name list. I don't think of it as a dog name either; I do know one lady who has a puppy named Maisie but that's because she had the name picked out for her last LO who was meant to be a girl but turned out to be a boy, so she gave the name to the dog instead :haha:.

My daughter is Maisie Grace!

I think it is adorable. If you want her to have a more formal name, how about:

Marguerite
Margot
Mackensie
