Maxwell- doesn't stand out to me though I don't dislike it either.

Maverick- not my style but not bad..more original than Maxwell.

Arlo- I can't pinpoint why but I just don't like it.

Phoenix- too girly IMHO (since I'm assuming you're looking for a boy name)

Silas- I really like this name.. It's pretty popular where I live though

Theodore- cute I like nn Theo.. Not over used in my area either

Maxwell - solid classic; doesn't stand out but to me is a name that would wear well for a boy or a man

Maverick -- trendy/cute but doesn't age as well as Maxwell, IMO

Arlo -- I have a soft spot for this name because of Arlo Guthrie, but I would probably use it as a middle maybe

Phoenix -- I like this, but same reaction as Maverick. Maybe as a middle?

Silas - solid, strong name

Theodore (nn Theo) - a classic, with cute nickname possibilities for baby or kids (I also like Teddy as a nn), but something that they can also grow into

I guess my personal favorites are Maxwell and Theodore--I like classic names that have cute nickname possibilities, but are things they can grow into and will suit a grown man as well.

To get the best of both worlds, you could use them as combos...

Maxwell: Too manly fr me.
Maverick: Like it, I know a little Maverick & we all call him Mavie. This means 'my life' in French, which makes me like his full name.
Arlo: lovely. Not a native speaker myself, so hard on my tongue.
Phoenix: nice. Unusual.
Silas: don't really like it. Don't know why.
Theodore: like Theo & Theon more as names. My grandfather was called Theofiel (Flemish).

Thank you! We'd originally gone with Maxwell, nn Max, but that's a pretty popular name. DD is Zoe, and we weren't aware at how popular that name was when choosing it, so I really want to avoid something in the top 20.

As of now my favorite is Phoenix, then Theo, Maverick, Arlo, and Max. I do really like Arlo but it's starting to rise in popularity too. We'll probably just decide once he's here!
