Just writing my next baby name list so i dont have a panic like i did with amelie
Anyway, the name is Calais. I love french names and its a place over in france. It's pronounced CAL-AY.

Male/fem/unisex?

I hear it as a place still because my town runs ferrys to Calais so I hear it quite alot but not as a name, does that make sense.

it reminds me a bit to much of the ferry terminal for me. x

I'm thinking ferry ports too! Maybe with a different spelling it might not have the same connotations? I had an old school friend with a similar girls name - Calli.

Maybe another French place name...
That one does not have the best connotation - a gathering point for illegals and a Ferry stop and there is an English saying ==== begin at ===. Not nice but it may be associated with the name.

:( maybe its cos im up north or something i didnt even think of the ferry port.

I really like it! its unisex also x

It's the name of one of the main characters in the Twilight books/films. He's the dad vampier.

Oops sorry. The name in the Twilight books is Carlise not Calais.
I like both.

Another downside is people would call him/her callie im sure :dohh:

I think it's a pretty name for a girl -- I live in the US & have absolutely no associations with the name, since i have never heard it...

I know of a little girl with the french name: Angelie -- so gorgeous!

I really like it. I'm french too, and it bothers me that the name is spelled with an "s" at the end. (reminds me of "calice" for some reason.) I love the name though, for either a girl or a boy. I'd probably spell it Calai.

I think it probably is location Blah hun. Its not the nicest place either

I like Calli for a girl tho, there are some gorgeous french names out there. x

I dont like Callie spelt like that :( Nevermind, I'll cross it off I guess

What about Vienna for a girl? Is it too much like Viennetta?
