My OH and I are TTC and he really wants to use this name if we have a boy:

Phillip

What do you ladies think of it?

Personally, I like it. Then again, I've always liked old fashioned names. It makes me think of the prince from Disney's Sleeping Beauty, which was always my favorite. I'd imagine someone with that name as being brave, kind, easy going, and a true gentleman. I'm not sure how I feel about the nickname "Phil", though.

Best Wishes! xx

I have the same issue with this name as I have with SOO many boy names, which is that I LOVE the name but not a huge fan of the nickname. I LOVE the name Phillip (Sleeping Beauty was my favorite too... :winkwink:), but "Phil" just seems so lackluster. And try as you might you can't control the nicknames.
But if you don't mind Phil I say go for it!

I love old fashioned names. Hence, Matthew. :) I think Phillip is a beautiful name and the great thing about classic names is that they still are common but they are never overly common like fad names.

I like Philip. I think Phil is a fine nickname, but being a big Shameless fan I think Lip is a pretty cool nn option. ;)

I like it, it does seem a bit odd to me though as I know Phillips/ Phil's that are all in their 30s so i don't know any baby Philips

Not a fan, sorry. Old fashioned but not old fashioned enough to be cool (like Ted and Violet) in my opinion.

Go with your heart - if you like it.
Names are very personal - and it's a huge decision.

I agree with littlelilly though tbh, I'm not sure if name my son Philip - I think names that are used in the 60s,70s,80s seem a bit dated for me.

But that's my personal opinion - I like older names like Arthur, George, Ted etc whereas some people think they're too old.

I like traditional names. But then I've got a Michael and growing a Daniel. I worried about the old man thing as people go for such didn't names these days but I love the names and I got comments about nice traditional names but aren't common anymore. My son is in nursery with a million harleys but he is the only Michael

Thank you all for sharing your thoughts and opinions. I really appreciate it :flower:

It is a nice name, I have quite a few Philip's in the family as it is a family name.

My boss is named Phillip and he is 60. And he's annoying :haha:
I also had a boyfriend when I was younger named Phillip and he had HUGE buck teeth. So I have negative associations with that name.
