Thrush and bleeding

Hi there,

Last night after wiping I noticed some blood on the loo roll, I wiped a few more times and more blood. After the 5th wipe there was no blood. I called L&D and they told me to come to triage which I did. I was freaked out and worrid that it might be my show as I was getting alot of discharge earlier in the day.

They monitored the baby - everything was fine, then they did an internal exam and found I had thrush. They said this may have cause an irritation and caused a small bleed.

They gave me a pessary of Canistan and sent me home. I bled a little after they saw me, and since then everything's been fine.

Has anyone else experienced this? and also, stup*d question but was the pessary safe to use in pregnancy? I'm presuming if the doctor in L&D gave it to me it would be(!)

Thanks x

Sorry I didn't want to read and run, I have not had this but I hope your feeling better:flower:

yes ive had it went in after i had some bleeding :( and i had thrush that caused me 2 b so sore that i bled x

oh and pessary is safe but they told me 2 insert with a finger rather than the applicator you get with the pessary x

I haven't ever bled from thrush but it can irritate your skin so badly and make it kind of chapped so definitely possible for it to make you bleed.

The pessary is fine when pregnant. You just have to be careful when inserting it.

I've been suffering with thrush and bleeding mainly after sex and i know full well the days after i'm going to be in pain/irritated & bleed but sex drive is overtaking me at the moment. I told my m/w about it and she said Canisan was fine to buy over the counter. Just don't have the tablet and if it gets worse I'll give you something stronger. it comes and goes and has done since around 15 weeks. :\

I have had thrush probably constantly since start of pregnancy always internal. I have heard that if external also can irritate enough to cause bleeding.

I have had a bout 7 pessaries now (am due to get my 8th shortly!!) and they are fine to use. I still use the applicator but just make sure I dont push in too far.

xx

I have had it too. The last time I was so sore I bled, and my doc says that is from dryness and itching, so he told me to get A&D cream and hydrocortisone cream and mix equal parts of the 2 together and rub gently to the outside of my vagina to prevent the dryness and itchiness that comes with thrush. It has worked like a charm, but do wear a panty liner as it is messy...
