thrush medications question?

hi everyone, i visited my doctor yesterday for a routine check up i asked about thrush as i think i may have it, he prescribed me some medication called Clotrimazole- a cream , and a 500mg pessary. I was just about to use it last night when i read the intruction leaflet and it said do not take if you are pregnant .... my doctor is old and has been known to be "passed it" sp i'm wondering has he given me the wrong medication ? Does anyone know whats safe to take for thrush? and what is Clotrimazole ? please help xx

Clotrimazole is the active ingredient of Canesten. I have used Canesten pessarys while pregnant (both the cream and the solid one) and my GP and midwife both say they are safe. I wouldn't worry. But if you need reassurance call your midwife or GP back That's what they are there for!

Yep, it should be safe. I think they just put that on there because they have to (it hasn't been tested in pregnant women, but no medicines have), but it's safe to use and pregnant ladies use it all the time. You can't take the tablet for thrush when pregnant (it's a different medicine), but the cream/pessary is quite safe.

Its fine don't worry its the tablet that noone will ever perscribe in pregnancy.. I've too used the pessary xx

Have you tried Multi-Gyn Actigel? It treats thrush and BV. You can get it in boots and it's totally safe for pregnancy. But the best thing is its SO soothing and you can use it as much as you like
