Thrush - should I be being treated too?

I had my baby girl 6 days ago. Yesterday white specs appeared on her tongue and she was taking a good hour to feed each time (i'm breast feeding), thrashing her head about like she couldn't latch on. When it got to 2am and she wouldn't feed or settle we called the MW at the hospital who told us to come in and see the GP out of hours service, who gave me some drops to put on her tongue.

Touchwood she has been better today, feeding more easily, but her tongue loks a right mess

I have an extremely sore left boob, so much so when I feed her I'm having to squeeze OH's hand cos it hurts so much!!!!! So after googling - it seems I should be on medication too? Should I call the MW again because I want it to clear up ASAP cos I hate seeing Emma uspet!!

hey hun when Kaleb had thrush i was given cream 2 put on nipples after every feed it was dakatrin and Kaleb had dakatrin gel h2h xx

If you have soreness it would sound like you have thrush too! It's definitely a good idea to get it treated asap before it causes any more problems. A good start would be to use Gentian Violet. You would paint it on your nipples and inside the babies mouth...it's purple and looks hysterical but it works really well and washes away after a little while.

my nipples were never sore luckily!! health visitor prescribed my cream hun so if u cant get to doc ask ur hv xx

theres also flucanozole tablets. you should def both be treated.
