do you think its acceptable?
i feel like absolute c**p atm :(
cant stop being sick and having headaches ALL the time,
im exhuasted and feel like i just need a few days to catch up on some rest.
my bumps causing me agony because im so small and my ribs are bruised and i just feel sorry for myself lol
but ive got this overwelhming guilt about having time off when ive only got 4 weeks left to go :(
what would you ladies do?

I took a weeks holiday a week an a half before my leave, it was either that or take sickies but I didnt want the stress of that, I think work can make you start mat leave early though if you take a certain amount of time off sick, is this right? Maybe flexi hours could be negotiated?

If you need a couple of days off then take them! You and baby are much more important! After a couple of days rest you will probably be much fitter for work and be able to perform much better and efficiently anyway!

I too have 4 weeks to go and I'm starting to feel how I can possibly manage to get through these next few weeks, if I feel like I need a couple of days then I will take a few as sick!

I totally feel your pain, I too am small and my ribs are soooo sore, especially afer lunch time. I've had to cut down my portion sizes, just to ease the discomfort. I am now waiting for my bump to drop, hopefully then I'll get some relief!

Definately take a few days off if you need it, you are growing a new life after all and it can be very exhausting at times!

x

I think they can only start you mat leave 4 weeks before your due date so up til then you can go sick, and to be honest if you feel sick, go sick! I wouldn't take my holidays if I was unwell as they should carry them forward to your mat leave if your unable to get them in before mat leave starts. Sick is Sick.
Hope you feel better soon xx

Check ur works policy. At my work if we are off sick with a pregnancy related illness within 4 weeks of due date they can make u start mat leave

I've been off yesterday and today hun - absolutely exhausted and up all night with acid reflux. I don't feel guilty - I never have time off work and I do genuinely feel like crap. I've got 6 weeks to go until I finish for Mat leave. x

It's the same at my work place. I'm starting my mat leave on the 26th Feb (due 6th March), but have annual leave to use before this, so my last shift is 9th Feb. Can't wait now, could do with some time to relax, sleep and nest :D

I;ve been off work yesterday and today, i woke yesterday and felt "off" really hard to describe, i just didnt feel right, Husband said maybe your just tired so i decided sod it, my baby is far more important than some papar work at the office!! Today i'm off cos i'm still not right, not ill or anything just weird!!

Oh and i finish work in 2 weeks!! So No, its not a problem being off, Your Baby comes First!!!

ive got 34 days of holiday to take before mat leave, so due date is 21st april, go on mat leave on the 18th and before that ill take all my holidays, which brings me up to the 28th february. so im nowhere near 4 weeks into my due date yet lol

i wanted to get signed off to next monday so i can take some days of rest till then without worrying, but you cant have a doctors note till 7 days apparently, so what do i tell my work?
oh hi, im self-signing myself off for a few days while i rest? lol
just dont know how to word it to them
any ideas?

i think its perfectly acceptable! I work in the hospital i will deliver at, and said i would work til labor, but as crap as i feel i decided to take the week off before i am due (when my leave starts) to relax... go for iit ! :)

Take the time if you need it, at the end of the day nothing is more important that your health. yes they can make you start your materity leave early but I think they could only do that if you were long term sick ie been put on bed rest or something like that not because your feeling poorly for a few days.

That said I'd be tempted to say you have tummy bug or something non-pregnancy related avoids the maternity leave issue rather than baby making you feel poorly.
