Can I take Ovidrel without a follicle scan??

I had two scans this month but my follicles were too small. I couldn't afford a third, so they said to wait til next cycle....

I have been taking OPK's and all negative, but today I got a much much much darker line. So, I believe I will get a positive digital OPK tonight or tomorrow morning. Since I am close to ovulation anyways, can I take Ovidrel?

A friend got pregnant on a cycle where she got a positive OPK in the am and took Ovidrel at night.

Don't know what to do & I can't get ahold of the damn doctor!! I assume he will say "no", since it's nice $$ every time they scan me ($250).

My doc required the exam before they would allow me to take the Ovidrel. But, my doc office does that in case the follies aren't mature enough and/or you have too many and the risk of multiples is too high.
