I have a tipped (or flexed or retroverted) uterus. It tipps back and to the left. I have heard sooo many horror stories about the IUD insertion with a tipped uterus. My GYN told me she had no trouble inserting IUDs with a tipped uterus, but of course i am still a little worried about it. Can you please share with me what your experience was like getting the IUD inserted IF you have a tipped uterus. Also, if you had it removed and you have a tipped uterus, what was that process like? Please dont leave out any details. I dont want it sugar coated, i just want to know what to expect. Thanks!

Oh and sorry, TMI, but i have to know...bc of my tipped uterus, :sex: is sometimes painful (depending on position). Did the IUD make DTD more painful for you or did it stay the same?

I have a tipped uterus and had an iud after my second was born. I never knew it was tipped back so far until they commented that when I had it placed they should prop my hips up ether with a pillow or my fists under my tailbone to help bring it forward. I had no prior experience so no idea if it was more painful, but it was uncomfortable. Take Motrin before you go. I cramped afterwards, but not terribly. It wasn't as bad as I had worked it up to be from the horror stories I heard. :hugs:

My uterus is tipped and having this coil is was really easy

I think the cervix position is more important, if its very high at the time it's gonna hurt more

im feeling much better hearing your experiences!

when did you guys get yours inserted? I was thinking of going at 6 weeks PP, but i read that if you get too close from delivery it could fall out-def dont want that to happen. I will be nursing. I never have cycles whilist nursing, but i dont want to risk anything (this is def our last child!). Im just worried bc i know its recommended to go on your period and like i said i never get cycles whilist nursing, so i obviously wont be able to get it inserted on my menstrual.

I was told you can have it inserted 2 months pp but they want you to have a period first

but what if you nurse and dont get periods while doing that?

this would be my third vaginal birth, not sure if that matters any or not.

I think they say that so you know you arnt pregnant, they may make you do a pregnancy test

I was planning on having the Mirena put in 6 weeks pp. Doctor tried but no luck, he said it was due to my uterus being tilted. I will go back on the pill once I'm done breast feeding.
