So im ment to be going to a foo fighters gig this friday - alot of walking and alot of standing. However I *think* iv got the start of SPD. Anybody have any hints or tips?? Is it worth popping a few paracetamol before I get there and staying 'dosed up' for the evening.
My OH is already trying to persude me not to go because he thinks its gunna be too much for me.. however... I WILL be going! I had to miss the last gig for various reasons I refuse to miss this one!

Ps - They better not cancel this show!! For anyone who doesnt know... the lead singer fell off stage on friday and broke his leg! :dohh: but in true style managed to finish the gig with a paramedic holding his leg in place lol.

OMG so jealous LOVE the Foo's and I have seen them live and they are FANTASTIC!

Sorry I have no tips I am hitching a ride I guess on your post as I think I also have the start of SPD and wanted some tips and walking any sort of distance or sitting too long at work is starting to make me walk around like an old person

Hope they don't cancel and Dave is ok

Humm I have general tips but not sure about foo fighters tips, when I was full blown spd I couldn't sit or stand longer then 20 mins anywhere! It's deff worth going before it (gets/might get) too bad.
In general, keep your knees together, spreading hips is a big no no! So roll out of bed, knees together off the couch, sex, er bit less enthusiastic then normal maybe!
Sleep with a cushion between your knees, no breaststroke with your legs when swimming, kicking only!
In my third tri I could only really sit on a blinking birthing ball, chairs were so painful!
Also ask for physio if it gets bad :)

Thanks very much for the tips!! Its only started the last few days and to start with I thought I maybe had another early engager!! But baby has turned around again now so I know it isnt that. X

Walk with short steps, not huge long strides. Wear flat, comfortable shoes - even a 1.5" heel can cause me a ton of soreness  Flat shoes help you have a more natural gait. The pain meds may help, so take them I say!

For the concert in specific, plan to do nothing for a day or so afterward, just in case it does hurt -- then you can sit/lay around and recover.

In general - don't roll in bed. Sit up, and turn, then lay back down. Pillow between your knees is supposed to help. Don't slouch when you sit. Sit on cushioned chairs -- hard chairs/hard floors cause me more pain than anything else.

For relief - get on your hands and knees and do pelvic tilts. This takes all the pressure off your pelvis and it feels amazing :haha: Just be sure to have a chair or something nearby so you can get back up!!

Please consider seeing a physical therapist. I suffered with SPD for my first pregnancy, trying to help it with things I'd read on the internet and vague advice. I'm now in my second pregnancy, and just a few visits has made a world of difference. (For instance, I now sleep with a pillow between my knees on one side but between my ankles if I'm laying on the other side, and I have proper stability shoes.) A PT will be able to assess your pelvis and see how YOUR alignment needs help, and prescribe exact exercises to help improve things.

All that being said, it's not likely you'll get in to see someone before Friday. So, here's my vague internet advice. Wear good supportive shoes. Sneakers would be best. Pay close attention to your body and take breaks to sit and rest when you need it. Don't use pain killers, as they might mask the pain until it gets really bad. You don't want to get to the point of no return. Don't try to lift your leg up to step over things - that action causes lots of pain for many SPD sufferers.

Thankyou! It isnt too bad atm, I can cope with it - its my feet that slow me down the most so I will get some better footwear! I will also speak to my Dr and see how quickly I can be referred x
