OMG!

I am 27 weeks pregnant, and lately I have had increased discharge & a VERY itchy v-jay-jay!
I have tried going to the loo and wiping heaps, washing with a washer, nothing seems to help. It is still SO itchy, UGH.

Any suggestions?

:dohh:

Sounds like it could be thrush, have you tried thrush treatment?

The chemist won't sell you treatment for thrush without a prescription when pregnant. Annoying as that is. So youll need to see the doc or midwife.xx

Oh hang on you're in Aus. I don't know how it works there. Maybe give your midwife a call.XX

Does sound like it may be thrush but I would also say to stop wiping so vehemently and be careful what you wash with. This can just makes your lady parts more irritable. Def speak to our MW or GP and they should be able to help. If you can, take a jug of still water to the loo with you to rinse after going to the toilet and then just dab dry. Might help a little in the meantime.

I was just about to say exactly what pixiebelle has said- if it is thrush (which is really common in pregnancy), or a bacterial infection causing the irritation, the last thing you want to do is wipe a lot or use a wash there- all you will do is further irritate the area. Wipe or pat gently after going to the loo and only wash with warm water.

If it is thrush, Canesten (clotrimazole) is apparently considered safe for pregnancy, although in Oz as well pharmacists may not want to sell it to you if you are pregnant and haven't seen a doctor- they don't like to in NZ either. Don't take any of the antibiotics that are available over the counter.
