Does any one know if its true that if you put vaseline between your 'toot' and bum you wont tear during the birth?

I've just heard if you kind of use something like that to stretch that tissue it'll help not to tear

Hmm Im not sure, Totally new news to me! Worth a go I guess lol. Mind you, if you've got a BIG baby in there, even using a jar of vasaline a night wont help with the tearing!
Xx

I don't know but if it is true WHY DID NO ONE TELL ME!!
I tore worse than a strawberry sweet lace!

Im not too sure about the vaseline thing but the thing your talking about its perinal perianal (sp?) massage .. you can buy special oils to massage in, in preparation for birth. Supposedly it helps but i havent tried it yet lol

hahaha have you ever seen the movie babymamma? in the movie it says veggie oil works.. hmm very curious .. im gonna go research it!

I really dont think Vaseline would work when you something resembling a small melon coming out of you  The best thing you can do to stop tearing is to breathe when the head is crowning and not push, which is easier said than done! xxxxx

I remember years ago when a friend of mine had given birth (around 16 years ago).

She told me she hadn't had any stitches, so me being completely naive, thought she must have had a foofoo the size of a bucket!

She told me that the most important thing when giving birth is to LISTEN to what the midwife is telling you, so if she says WAIT and breathe, you must wait and breathe.....don't push if you aren't asked to otherwise you run the risk of tearing badly.

I took her advice, had my son and daughter, with no stitches or tears at all! :happydance::happydance:(Just slight grazing)

Let's see if it works this time around for me!

My friend told me that she was drinking raspberry leaf tea throughout the pregnancy, and it was the smoothest birth out of her 3. Then again, it could have been because it was her 3d, but she said that she tore twice before that, but not the third time! I read about it on the Internet, seems like the tea has some other cool qualities. But you have to be really careful, as some docs argue that drinking raspberry leaf tea in the 1st trimester might cause MC. I meant to ask my doc today about it and completely forgot!

My mom drank one cup a day in the last couple months of pregnancy with her last child and when she was going into labour she had one really strong cup of it and she had a 2 hour labour that time around, and every other birth was between 12-20 hours when she didn't drink it... it would be worth reading more about!
