I was diagnosed with polyhydramnios and at times my fluid reached 36cm. I googled and googled and worried myself sick about complications, blockages, Down syndrome etc but I gave birth to a beautiful little boy on Tuesday and the reason for my excess fluid was unknown. Most cases of this are just one of those things so please stay off google if you are diagnosed with this and you will be fine x

I had that with my 3rd child! and also in my case baby was perfectly fine and he was delivered via csection at 38w6d weighing in at a healthy 8lb 11oz. I did have one of the complications of a uterine tear that occurred during the delivery so thank god I had a cesection so all was fine for us. I am currently pregnant with baby #4 and wondering if I have a chance of this happening again. I forgot to ask my ob at my last appt. lol. so happy it turned out ok for you to! did they tell you how much fluid you had? they told me normally you have about 2lb of fluid and I had 5lb when I delivered my son. I was HUGE looked like I was delivering triplets! Congrats again and happy mothers day!

Congratulations Nicki on the birth of your beautiful baby boy. So glad the excess fluid wasn't an issue in the end. Enjoy these special early days xx

I have another scan on Monday to see if my fluid levels have gone further up or normalised. Here's hoping they're back in normal range so I can be OKed for a midwife-led birth.

I had this with Coralie, freaked me out completely  but Coralie was born with no complications. She's a healthy girl :)

Most time it's unknown reasons... stay away from google people :haha:

hi krissy i dont think having it once means you will get it again. Im hoping i never have to experience it again because i was so uncomfortable. I had 3-4 litres of fluid according to the mw. The two docs who broke my waters and controlled the cord had to get changed!! The floor was soaked and within minutes my bump was literally a third of the size it was instant relief. Hope you dont get it this time and have a very happy and healthy pregnancy :D

thank you raptasaur xx good luck for monday i hope your fluid levels are in normal range. Mine went from 36cm to 26cm before birth but im sure it went back up again because i was literally fit to burst

Good luck on levels going down.....my never did and at one point they actually considered taking fluid out by amnio just to relieve some of the pressure but since I was so close to delivery I choose not to.

I had just over 5L in there! lol yeah my dr told me if my water broke I would know it for sure bc it would be like on the movies a huge gush of water lol. all my dr said it was like an ocean when they broke my water during my cesection.
