This may be a stupid question :dohh: but do you need to have been christened to get married in a church?

We were talking about it last night with H2B family and he has been christened but I havent. I know there are certain criteria to get married in a church that is not your parish, but we should be alright with that. (it is between 2 diff churches)

I am new to this  so any other info regarding churches would be useful. e.g. how much does it cost? or does it vary?

it costs 345 pounds to get married in a church, im not sure if you have to be christened, me and dh both were already anyway, there are new rules in place in terms of the church you can get married in though, it must be the church of your parish unless you have a special connection to another one i.e. you worship there regularly etc

Our parish church cost £400 in June when our friends got married. We went to see the vicar about getting married there next Sept and was told £800 plus £80 if we want the bells ringing! We looked up a church in another parish and the vicar basically told us it wasn't gonna happen - It was a really nice church aswell!

is it a church of england church? if it is there is a set fee of 345 that the vicar should charge, he is not meant to charge more than that, unless you want extra stuff!

Yeah they are both CE thank you for that, now we know how much to budget for it!

How far in advance do you need to book? I was thinking a year, but my mum thinks maybe longer than that!

it depends what time of year you want to get married, if its a popular time (june/july) then you are best getting it booked asap as those months get pretty busy! We got married in March so we only booked it a few months before we got married as was not a busy time of year!

I was thinking exactly the same thing.... What should I say on the phone?!? :D
Do any of you go to church reguarly, as I'm worried they will say no because we don't....

It's a Methodist church. Nope he just said £800 then the bells were £80 =S There were extras aswell as the bells like heating and stuff.

I though doubling the prices up from £400 was abit of a piss take tbh!
