I purchased what i thought was a wonderful bed from the thrift store. I was informed of the strict no exchange, no return policy.. got home and realized after i cleaned the crib that it was actually a drop down and It was"converted" to a crib by a big huge screw that wasn't in all the way:dohh:... 98 dollars down the drain :nope: needless to say it made me cosleep even more as I was scared lo would fall or something...

Now that my lo is going on 17 months. I wonder if I should get her a toddler bed or twin side bed with the rails? At what age did you switch over to a toddler bed or did you get a twin (standard bed)? :coffee:

We moved our lo into our spare room and a toddler bed just after his 2nd birthday. The main reason was because a month later his brother was due and we wanted to get his room and cot ready for him.
We chose a toddler bed so we could use the same mattress and buy a new cot mattress for new baby. We also felt it would be less of a big transition. I put a bed guard up to start with but soon took it off - the toddler bed is so close to the floor that if he did fall out it wasn't far to fall anyway.

DD is almost 18 months and has been in her toddler bed since 15-16 months. She does perfect in it. After falling out once the first night she realized she needs to stay up by the half rail if she wants to toss and turn

I thought that it was illegal to sell the drop sided cribs now? I would look into that, because then you could get your money back as they can get in trouble for selling it to you.

We bought Megan a toddler bed when she was 25 months because I was pregnant with Jordan, she seemed excited but once in came to sleeping... She would run to her crib and beg to be put in it, she liked the security of the crib. At 2 1/2 she went into the toddler bed. She didn't seem that comfy so we bought her a full size bed a few months later. We have a bed guard up and pushed it against the wall. She sleep so great in it! And actually even though it's higher, she is more secure with the bed rail than she was in the toddler bed with the little half guard thing near the top.

we moved natalia into a twin bed at 26 months. We skipped the toddler bed altogether because we knew she would be out of it in no time so i felt like we would just waste some money on a toddler bed. lol she did great and still does

My oldest went into a toddler bed at 17 months. At first she kept climbing out at bedtime but after a few nights of putting her back lots of times, she got the idea. She has never fallen out as it has a side on it. A standard single would work as well but toddler beds tend to be lower so they're easier for LO to get in and out. My youngest will go into her sister's old bed as soon as we get a new bed for the oldest, anytime now really.

I would go back to the shop you bought the cot from and question their returns policy. I don't think it is legal to say that about faulty or dangerous items and they probably want to maintain a good reputation. Selling items classed as dangerous wouldn't really help them with that!

I got this bed for my little boy;

Its low to the ground and is a full size single.

I purchased the cot when lo was six months, and after the gentleman explained the no return or exchange policy I never called back.. just considered it a lost :dohh: silly me. now that I look back on the purchase I don't remember them giving me a proper ticket for the purchase. i shoulda been running for the hills! Needless to say I will take the whole crib down and place it in the trash, as it can't be sold or used for another lo WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY down the line! :haha:

and although my lo is quite long, I think I may just purchase the toddler bed for a few months to see how it goes.

I moved my son straight to a full sized bed. We had the bed already (my old bed before marriage) and figured we might as well save money and use it. He loves it.

With dd I'm going to convert her crib to a toddler bed and then it eventually converts to full size and we will only have to buy a mattress . I'm all about money saving! Lol

It's DS first night in a toddler bed tonight (18 months) after climbing out his cot the last few nights we decided its safer for him to be in a bed. He went down at 7 no problem but was really tired but so far so good :))
I do think we are going to get a bed safety rail for the lower side as its only got a rail up top x

We bought our son a twin bed. He's co slept with us forever, still does till March 1st then bed he goes. So we figured since he's never slept in anything but a real bed might as well start there! He does nap in his twin bed in his room most the time and only rolled off once so we are buying a rail for it

now i slept on it again and i think I may get a twin bed. only because lo and i aren't gonna stop co sleeping anytime soon and by the time she makes it to her bed it will be spring/summer maybe:haha: do I need to get her a stool that sits on her bed?

Now I'm even more confused LOL! the Walmart website has so many options! They even have a twin bed with a slide!

We just went to a furniture store and bought a wooden headboard, metal frame, and mattress. I didn't like the idea of a footboard that she could bump into while playing. She will have it forever. Lots of the kids beds wouldn't work for older kids... So basic will last longer.

We have a high bed guard and pushed the mattress over a bit so it's right against the wall, it leaves a small step on the box spring that she uses to get up into the bed. We originally were using a step stool like what we were using for her washing hands in the bathroom, but she stopped using it because using the box spring seemed more fun to her i think. Lol

I can't imagine how little sleep kids would get if there was a slide on their bed! Curious if it's a big seller?!
