I'm looking for some advice please, my 2 y/o is in a cot bed and has a "quilt" the patterned type that is all in one, not one you put in a duvet cover if that makes sense? Last year in winter she was in a sleeping bag still but this year she won't be and I don't think her quilt will be warm enough. I want to buy her a duvet but I've had a look and they are all 4 tog which is the same as her current quilt, so what's the difference? Thank you for helping my get my head around it!! X

Now I'm confused :haha: I thought a Duvet went OVER the blanket to give it a new look- no additional warmth, least the ones I've always gotten ;)

Could you maybe just buy another light but warm blanket to go underneath? Even tac them together somehow if you don't like the idea of two blankets. Our LO sleeps with a soft throw- and then a light comforter that came with her bed set-- usually one ends up on the floor- but we just dress her according to the weather ;)

Haha I think we call that a "throw" here, as in throw it over! I asked my friend and she says the one I have is small but a proper duvet would be bigger and by default warmer because it would be less easy to kick off completely :)

Oh unless you mean a duvet cover?? In which case yes no added warmth just to look nice and match pillows etc :)

Told you I was confused didn't i???

I think a duvet being more fluffed up than a quilt will make it warmer. If not you could always pop an extra blanket on.

We have a 7.5 tog duvet for dd2 but dd1 only had a 4 tog one. We got ours off of ebay and they went up to 10 tog. But if you want to keep the one you have I would just add/remove extra blankets as needed. x

ETA - dd2 is in a toddler bed not a cot though so not sure if they do cot ones in different togs so probably just ignore me ha ha x

Thanks guys, I think its becoming clearer!! x
